If conservative pundits and libertarian politics aren’t your mug of coffee, steer clear of Schaumburg on the weekend of Sept. 30.
Get Ready for TeaCon 2011
Aaron Schock Cover Shoot Gets 'Shopped
Almost as a rule, when politicians or political organizations try to do humor (or worse, "relatability"), it falls deathly flat. See: Mitt Romney's "Who Let The Dogs Out" moment, the GOP's faux-birthday cards for President Obama, Al & Tipper's makeout moment and Mike Dukakis' cartoonish tank-driving fiasco. (Admittedly, the last two weren't exactly intentionally humorous.) Which is why we have to give a bit of credit where it's due, for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee's quick photoshop party poking fun at Aaron Schock's easily-mockable beefcake photo shoot.
Glenn Beck, Right Nation Rally In Hoffman Estates
Thousands of conservatives donned tri-corner hats and pledged to “take back the government” at the Right Nation 2010 event in Hoffman Estates this weekend. Attendees shelled out anywhere from $70 to $1,200 to hear speeches from conservative all stars as Andrew Breitbart, Dick Armey, and Aaron Schock, Illinois gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady and of course, Glenn Beck.
New RightNation 2010 Trailer Released, VO Guy Sounds Familiar
The "trailer" for the upcoming right-wing-Woodstock Right Nation 2010 event was recently released, and even though conservative luminaries like Glenn Beck, leading midwestern Republicans, and a collection of other Tea Party Independents will be in attendance, based on the audio we're assuming the main speaker will be some guy named Ronald Reagan. Don't know much about him, but he appears to have a very promising career as an orator. Also ominous: the "THEN YOU MUST JOIN US" at 1:21. And the "Pirates of the Carribbean"-esque music. And everything else. (We heard only one mention of the word "socialism.") We're honestly not sure if this is a conference or a monster truck rally.
GOP Talking Head Trinity - Hasselbeck, Coulter, Beck - Slammed By Suburban Anti-Gay Group
With California's Prop 8 likely en route to the Supreme Court and poll after poll revealing ever-broadening support for same-sex marriage, bordering on majority support in more states than ever, one would expect the country's most visible socially conservative talking heads would be frothing at the news. But, it turns out, they're not. And one suburban Chicago group is really, really not happy about that fact.
Glenn Beck, Brian Urlacher, and Neo-Nazis. Huh? (UPDATED)
The Root came out with a list of the Blackest White Folks we Know, and in addition to notable crackers like Bill Clinton, John Mayer and Bill Maher, racial unity specialist Glenn Beck was listed on it due to his recent lesson on black Founding Fathers.
Weekend Diversion: Glenn Beck's Best Gig
It involves a radio station and a monkey. Incredibly, he's actually slid downhill from here.
