Metronomy Returns to Chicago

Metronomy Returns to Chicago

It’s been quite awhile since Metronomy crossed the pond from their native England to America, and it’s been even longer since they have made a stop in Chicago. more ›

With LCD Soundsystem, The Party Never Stops

A warning was posted on the doors of the Aragon Ballroom Monday night informing all who entered that there would be "excessive" use of strobe lights. It was the first of LCD Soundsystem's two-night stint in Chicago, so a big stage production and some epileptic seizure-inducing lights were to be expected. But while we were prepared for a strobe explosion, we had no idea we would see such levels of sweating, dancing and rocking out that hard for a sustained, 90-plus minute set. Hot Cheap

We've just learned there are still tickets to tonight's Hot Chip show at Metro, even though some other sites have mistakenly billed the show as being sold out. The best part about this miscommunication? You can score tickets for $5 off if you purchase them through the Metro store and enter "madeinthedark" into the section asking for a discount code OR if you print out this blog entry and bring it to the door. Sweet deal ... and now some words from the band itself. more ›

Elsewhere in the Ist-a-verse

With all that went down this week, we thought we thought we'd cheer everyone up by giving everyone a double dose of dogs. It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions this week at DCist. Like the rest of country, we were floored by the news of so many dead coming out of Virginia Tech, and with so many of the victims and their relatives from the D.C. area, we felt it important to pay... more ›
