Chime in! Where Should We Go For Our Next Food Pr0n?

We are looking to you, dear reader, to let us know where you'd like us to visit for our Food Pr0n series. Any restaurants in particular have you curious? Comment below or Twitter lstolpman. Here's a reminder of where we've been:

And LO, the National Hot Dog & Sausage Council said, "Let July be National Hot Dog Month and let Sunday, July 20, 2008 be National Hot Dog Day." And so it was. And it was good.

Poor Didier Durand. The chef/owner of Cyrano's Bistrot was visited by the Health Department Wednesday on suspicion of selling foie gras, only to be shut down with a cockroach infestation. A Health Department spokesperson told Crain's that the infestation was "pretty severe," encompassing both the kitchen and a basement food prep area. Durand said the pest control company he uses thinks the roaches were a result of ongoing condo renovations above the restaurant. Unless he...

Is lead that inexpensive? Some toy stores are being hurt by Mattel's massive toy recall, and others are actually watching business boom. Mayor Daley introduced a proposed ordinance Wednesday calling for increased parking rates at O'Hare International and Midway Airports that would generate about $24 million in additional revenue a year. (They're really working on cranking out the ordinances, hey?) Sounds like the plot of a creepy movie ...a convicted murderer whose sister-in-law helped...

A federal judge yesterday upheld Chicago's ban on foie gras, disappointing chefs across the city, and of course, giving renewed energy to both sides to persevere. In dismissing the Illinois Restaurant Association's lawsuit, U.S. District Judge Blanche Manning ruled that the city does have a constitutional right to prohibit the sale of foie gras. On a related note, we were alerted yesterday to a tiny section (Section 123) of the pending USDA Farm Bill that...

Last year when Chicagoist spoke with the ladies from Girls Rock! Chicago, the camp was in its first year and had been mildly successful, even though they were finding the camp difficult to publicize. This year they are in full force months ahead of the week-long workshop in August, and they'll be holding their second fundraiser of the year at The Empty Bottle on Saturday. The bill is full of bands that include strong female...

A little over a year ago we collectively sighed with relief when Ald. Joe Moore of the 49th Ward persuaded city councilmen to decide, in a 48-to-1 vote, to ban the sale of foie gras, those delicious fatty livers of geese and ducks. We sighed not because we were happy, but because there was so much talk about it at the time, even we got tired of the whole debate. But the issue just wouldn't...

Let's say you're a business owner who was recently cited for holding a misdemeanor amount of contraband, after months of openly defying a city ordinance you thought was, for lack of a better term, idiotic. You were required to pay a small fee by the city and vowed to all media who called you that you would not serve the contraband until the law was repealed. But the contraband substance is still in your possession....

You'll remember that Hot Doug's, the delightful north side tubesteak palace that puts a whimsical twist on hot dogs, was the first food establishment cited last month for violating the foie gras ban. The hearing for the citation was today, and owner Doug Sohn, through his attorney, agreed to pay a $250 fine. He could have been fined up to double that amount. We reached Sohn for comment at Hot Doug's a short time ago....

Hot Doug's is the proud recipient of the city's first Foie Gras ticket. Doug Sohn, who puts the Doug in Hot Doug's, has been taunting the hell out of city officials since the ban went into effect. Sohn framed the warning letter he received from the city and placed it on his counter. Coming half a year after the ordinance was passed, the Chicago Health Department inspector went to Hot Doug's on Friday morning, issued...

The Zagat Survey’s listings are as vast as the city’s dining options, and that’s why we love it. Today, the company announced the top restaurants in the 2006/07 edition. With more than 4,800 local diners reviewing 1,000-plus eateries, the book features the best of the best in every category. This morning at the Park Hyatt, co-publisher Tim Zagat presented the awards to the top-ranked restaurants. He noted several industry and Chicago-specific trends. Compared to other...

Chicagoist picks up the Reader every week out of habit, more than anything. It's not that we don't have our gripes with the paper; we do. We also have more important things happening than to indulge in infrequent sophomoric commentary about Michael Miner, Liz Armstrong, and the music section - although Monica Kendrick always gets love from us for being a Motörhead fan. That said, if you consider yourself a gourmand, pick up this week's...

Chicagoist lived in Roscoe Village for almost a year before we'd discovered Hot Doug's, though it's not as if you could have blamed us. Nestled in a small storefront on the west end of the Roscoe Street hubbub of commerce, Hot Doug's was the kind of place you had to seek out if you were new to the neighborhood.
