200 Protestors Arrested Outside Park Hyatt Hotel
Close to 200 union and hospitality workers were arrested on Thursday in front of the Park Hyatt Hotel while demonstrating their support for labor negotiations with major downtown hotels, and also showing solidarity for fired hotel employees in Boston. Those that were arrested decided to sit in the middle of Chicago Avenue as an act of civil disobedience. Almost 900 members of Unite Here Local1 participated in the protest, speaking up for the 6,000 downtown hotel workers that have worked without contracts since Aug. 31.
'Couples Only' Hotel In Midlothian?
A new "couples only" hotel may be coming to Midlothian, and residents say the hotel does not belong in a residential area and fear the hotel could bring prostitution to the area. One resident told the Sun-Times, "We're all for business here and it may sound silly. And maybe we're being fussy. But I don't want any midnight stenographers around here."
Mr. Obama Goes to Washington; Booked at Haunted Hotel
Today is the day that President-elect Barack Obama is scheduled to move from the South Side to Washington DC. Michelle and the girls scooted out of town yesterday, a day earlier that scheduled, apparently to give them more time to adjust before the girls start school tomorrow morning. The move was scheduled to accommodate the girls’ school schedule, which starts up tomorrow after the holiday recess.
Hotel Coming to Wicker Park's "Crotch"?
The Chicago Journal has recapped a bit of the legal proceedings that are in process to take the Northwest Tower Building (located at the intersection of Milwaukee, Damen, and North a.k.a. the "crotch" of Wicker Park) from commercial to crash-pad. MCM Realty knows right now that they'd like to put a hotel in there...but other than that, they're not too sure about much else.

Holy dodging bullets, Batman! This YouTube video shows where a bullet entered and exited a family’s room at the Hotel Blake on Dearborn. The video was apparently shot the day after the shootings after the July 3 fireworks display.
Legionnaires Linked to Hotel Hot Tub
A case of Ewww! Two people have been diagnosed with Legionnaire’s disease and linked to a McHenry County Hampton Inn hot tub. The two individuals both used the hot tub on the same day at the South McHenry hotel, located at 1555 S. Route 31. Both have been hospitalized and the Illinois Department of Public Health has issued an alert for people who used the hotel’s pool or spa between May 9 and June 4.
Trump Tower Rolls Out the Red Carpet
The Trump International Hotel and Tower is now open for guests. The hotel portion of the project, originally slated to open last December, occupies floors 14 through 27, and features 339 luxury guestrooms, including one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites. In addition to top-of-the-line appointments (sub-zero fridge for a minibar and in-mirror TV portals in the bathroom), the hotel promises service that will be unrivaled. The hotel website brags:
