DePaul's expressed a desire to hire a high profile name in the hopes of returning their men's basketball program to prominence after a prolonged period of poor play, but thus far is having a bit of trouble filling its coaching vacancy. However, Athletic Director Jean Lenti Ponsetto would be best to ignore any job application emails, screen all calls and generally avoid any contact with one well known name. NBA Hall of Famer and Chicago native Isiah Thomas has expressed interest in coaching the Blue Demons, according to a source close to the former Pistons star.

Journey to the Center of the "Ist-a-Verse"
Protest over national vs. regional chains, the never-ending debate over the place of cars and bicycles in our metropolises, professional sports scandals, remembering a solemn day, and being issued a search warrant - it all happened across our sites this week! Another banner week at Chicagoist started off with daily reports from food writer Lisa Shames on her attempt to eat only locally grown and raised foodstuffs all week as part of a farmers market...
Bulls Don't Win the Lottery
Maybe we got a bit ahead of ourselves when we dreamed of Greg Oden trading in the red jersey of Ohio St. for a red Bulls uni, on account of the Bulls holding the right to swap picks with the New York Knicks in this year's draft as part of the Eddy Curry trade. But you saw how bad the Knicks were in '06, right? And then they added Isiah Thomas to their bench as...
Elsewhere in the Ist-a-verse
Happy Holidays! Chances are, you're reading this the day after Christmas, back at your day job after all-too-short a holiday, and the last thing you want from us is stuff about the holidays. It might be December 26 for you, but that's what you get for not checking your Favorite Local Blog on Christmas Eve. Austinist is...
Bulls Waive Goodbye to Tim Thomas
Tim, we hardly knew ya. Sent home just days into the season by Bulls management, they finally waived Thomas on Wednesday after they were unable to work out a trade prior to the trading deadline. Thomas played in just 3 games for the Bulls following his acquisition by the Bulls as part of the Eddy Curry deal. The Bulls were primarily interested in his expiring contract, and when he sensed he wasn't part of the...
Crawford... will... be...traded... any... day... now...
Chicagoist thought that the Jalen Rose trade talks last season took forever before the deal was consummated, but the trade talks involving Jamal Crawford are setting a whole new standard! After weeks of negotiations, the Bulls and New York Knicks seem to finally have hammered out all the players who will be included in the deal. Last week, Bulls GM and former on-court adversary Knicks President Isiah Thomas even met face to face to push trade talks forward. The agreement in place sends Jamal Crawford and Jerome Williams to the Knicks for Dikembe Mutombo, Othella Harrington, Frank Williams and Cezary Trybanski.
