Jane's Addiction has been around quite a while, and gone through the breakup / regroup thing quite a few times, but for a band that's been around over two decades their recorded output is pretty minimal. Unlike most bands with similar lifespans Jane's Addiction seems to only record when they feel like it, and as a result their material stands up. Granted, more recent albums from the band will never pack the punch of Nothing's Shocking or Ritual De Lo Habitual that owes much to the fact that so many bands have run through the door Jane's Addiction opened, taking bits and pieces of the band's sound as they went through.

Beating The Heat On The Last Day Of Lollapalooza 2009
It was HOT yesterday in Grant Park, and Lollapalooza organizers went out of their way to help attendees beat the heat. Mobile crews and most of the beer tents were giving away bottled water in an attempt to keep music fans hydrated and happy. The day's overall vibe was a mellow one and brought us to our greatest realization about the festival.
Graham Elliot Bowles Gears Up for Lolla
This in from Tribune Mayor McCheese, um, "Cheeseburger Bureau Chief" Kevin Pang: Graham Elliot Bowles, who's been known to play his own music in between spins of Huey Lewis and the Clash in his eponymous River North restaurant, will be cooking for Jane's Addiction when Lollapalooza hits town in a few short weeks. Bowles will be serving Perry and company what he described as a "heartland picnic."
Unconfirmed: Lolla Headliner Rumor Roundup
As reported here and here, the full list of Lollapalooza 2009 headliners has been revealed. In addition to the Beastie Boys, Jane's Addiction, and Depeche Mode, the anchor stages at either end of Grant Park will also feature The Killers and Tool. Lou Reed, the Decemberists, Neko Case, and Andrew Bird have also been tipped to participate.
DOWNLOAD: Unreleased Jane's Addiction And Nine Inch Nails
Trent Reznor just opened NIN/JA 2009, a site offering a free download of a mini-sampler of unreleased tracks from Nine Inch Nails and Lollapalooza headliner Jane's Addiction. Personally, we're super stoked to hear studio demo version of old Jane's faves like "Chip Away" and "Whores!" Get it.
Extra, Extra
- Police responded to a report of gunfire at UIC but didn't find any evidence of a gunman in the neighborhood.
- Former Blago fundraiser and O'Hare contractor Christopher Kelly has been banned from ever doing business with the city again. Booyah!
- Thomas Morphey, the alleged witness in the Stacy Peterson disappearance, has been offered immunity by prosecutors in exchange for his testimony.
Lollapalooza Predictions...
People keep asking us who we think will play this year's Lollapalooza so let's throw a few names out there as predictions. We would like to emphasize that these are predictions! We have no inside knowledge of any sort -- these thoughts are purely speculative.
