Milwaukee Avenue Arts Fest Now One of Bests Fests in Town

Milwaukee Avenue Arts Fest Now One of Bests Fests in Town

With Wicker Park Fest last weekend and Lollapalooza next weekend, our social calendar has been exhausting. Our hopes for Wicker Park Fest were promptly dashed with the lack of interesting music, vendors and space to move around. But we're really looking forward to the festival sandwiched between Wicker Park Fest and Lolla, Milwaukee Avenue Arts Festival, which spans Milwaukee Ave. between Kimball and California. more ›

JC Brooks And The Uptown Sound Debut New Tracks

Having recently been tapped to pass strange for Bailiwick Chicago, presumably without the help of non-inflammatory medicine or a laxative, local soul stars JC Brooks And The Uptown Sound are plenty busy. Good thing they stopped in to Coach House Sounds for a quick little session back in March. Otherwise, we might not have gotten two new tracks from the band. more ›

Tweedy has often been known to support the political candidates and causes he believes in, having done concerts for Chicago Public Schools, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert's Rally to Restore Sanity and of course, the big cheese, Barack Obama. more ›

JC Brooks And The Uptown Sound Rock Your Monday

JC Brooks And The Uptown Sound Rock Your Monday

Local soul/funk rockers J.C. Brooks and The Uptown Sound have always been able to get us perked up and in a dancing mood. Which makes tonight's performance at the Empty Bottle a perfectly-timed event. With warmer weather (slowly) rolling in and another work week upon us, we're ready to relieve some stress and just have a good time. And it's impossible to have anything but a good time at a show from one of the city's most energetic, soulful bands. The group is currently promoting its fantastic new single "Get It Together" which comes backed with a funked-up cover of Wilco's "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart." The icing on the cake for tonight's show? It's free of charge. So get a running start to your week; you may wake up a bit tired tomorrow, but trust us, it'll all be worth it. more ›
