When Michael Jackson's father, Joe, appeared at last month's tribute to his son in their former hometown of Gary, Indiana, it was, apparently, for a price. Seems that Jackson's fee is included in a $5,000 bill the city of Gary has to pay, but Mayor Rudy Clay insists that once other bills are collected and donations counted, the city will actually profit from the celebration: "It turned out beautiful and great and we're not using taxpayers' money, so we should be given a blue ribbon for prudence." Jackson Family to be at Gary Memorial
Fox 32 is reporting Michael Jackson's father Joe Jackson, as well as other unnamed family members, will be at tomorrow's memorial for the dead pop singer at Gary, Indiana's baseball stadium. Meanwhile, that House resolution for Michael Jackson? Nope, not gonna happen.
Jackson 5 Museum In Gary Not As Easy as 1-2-3
A Jackson 5 museum is in the preliminary planning stages in Gary, but it got a visibility boost after patriarch Joe Jackson announced his support for the project yesteray. So far, there's no groundbreaking date and no timeline for completion. In other words, people are sort of talking about maybe doing a museum or something. The proposed museum would be built near I-80 on city-owned property, and might include the Jackson family's old house.

Updates on the Shooting at Ogilvie Center
Last Friday we were winding down our work week when shots rang out at the offices across the street. Outside was pandemonium, with police everywhere, streets closed, sirens, and helicopters. Inside was not much better. Our office just stopped and was looking everywhere for more information online, playing radio broadcasts and trying to figure out alternate ways to get home. All the while, we tried to keep you up to date.
