Yesterday, the American Home Brewers Association listed the 50 best beers in America. Everyone loves a list, so of course we started looking for our hometown favorites. This was not a list of only craft beers (according to the site, "The only rule is that the beer has to be commercially available somewhere in the United States") and the poll considered 1306 different brews. Chicago Magazine continues to roll out their top 40 lists celebrating their 40th anniversary all year and their latest is a pretty intriguing list: the top 40 artistic breakthroughs in the city's history. Mayor Daley has voiced his support for Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis' decision to rebuke an order from a judge to turn over a list of police officers who have had five or more citizen complaints filed against them since 2000. Weis was to turn the list over to the court as part of a lawsuit against the city accusing a police officer of using excessive force and making a false arrest. Weis refused, saying that handing the list over would, "compromise officers’ performance, threaten safety, reduce morale and improperly impugn many officers’ otherwise well-deserved good reputations.” Today, Mayor Daley said, “They have been thoroughly reviewed. Those people should not come under scrutiny of any lawyer…These are public servants. I believe [Weis] is doing the right thing.” more ›
