Chicagoist is pretty sure we witnessed the birth of a couple of superstars Tuesday night, as Loul Deng and Ben Gordon teamed up to cool off the Heat once again. With their 107-89 victory Tuesday night, the Bulls took a 2-0 lead in the best of seven series.
Bulls Beat Heat, Go Up 2-0
Bulls Season Preview
The Bulls tricked the Miami Heat and treated their fans to a 42-point blowout of the defending NBA Champs, on the same night the champs hung their banner and received their rings. Is the 108-66 victory a sign of things to come for the Bulls' 2006-2007 season? Maybe... After two straight playoff appearances, but also two straight first-round eliminations, the Bulls are poised to compete for the Eastern Conference title this season. We're not saying...
Um... Even We Think That's a Bit Optimistic
By now, we have come to terms with the fact that the White Sox will not be repeating as World Series champs ... well, because you have to make the playoffs to get to the World Series. And that ain't happening.
Bulls Lower the Heat
It's amazing what happens when a team plays some defense! While the Bulls had allowed the Miami Heat to score an average of 113 points in the first game to their own 107, last night saw the Bulls beat the Heat 109-90.
Bulls Earn 7th Seed
The final day of the NBA season was a crazy one, at least in terms of the Eastern Conference playoff seeding. Chicagoist certainly wasn't a math major in college, so we had to wait for the media to explain to use the scenarios and outcomes. They could end up anywhere from 5th to 8th, depending on the outcomes of Wednesday's games.
Bulls Nip Nets, Regain Hold of 8th Seed
It took a while. A really long while. But the Bulls finally seem to have discovered that scrappy instinct that led them to a 47-35 record last season and their first playoff appearance since MJ left town.
Snatching Defeat From the Jaws of Victory
Before the start of the NBA season, Chicagoist actually thought the Bulls would be comparable to last year's surprising 47-35 team. Boy were we wrong! Whereas last year's team regularly scraped and clawed to overcome early defecits and win games they had no business winning, this year's team has been following the opposite script. Monday night's loss to the Utah Jazz saw the Bulls give away the game not once, but twice. They jumped out...
NBA Draft a Quiet Night for Bulls
The NBA held its annual draft last night. In recent years, this was the biggest night of the year for the Bulls. This year, however, even John Paxon and Jerry Reinsdorf probably made other plans. Because of a trade for Bryce Drew during the Bulls' Dark Ages and last year's trade for Loul Deng, the Bulls were without a pick in the draft for the first time in their 40 year history. Which was probably...
Wiz End Bulls' Season
The Bulls magical season came to a close Friday night as the Washington Wizards defeated the Bulls 94-91 in DC, winning the best-of-seven series 4-2. The entire game, it looked like the Bulls would hold of the Wiz and bring the series home to Chicago on Sunday. Up most of the game, the Bulls lost that lead in the final minute. Just about as soon as the final buzzer sounded, talk turned to next season's...
Banged Up Bulls Blown Out
The 106-99 score of last night's Bulls-Wizards game masks how Washington dominated the game. While the Bulls closed to within single digits at the end, they spent most of the game trailing by 20 or more. Washington first went up by 20 at 42-22 and pretty much held that margin until the Bulls started closing in during the 4th quarter.
Curry Out for Season
Man, that smarts! Just as Chicagoist is getting all excited about the Bulls in the playoffs, the Bulls announced today that Eddy Curry -- sidelined since March 30 because of an irregular heartbeat -- is out for the remainder of the season, incuding the playoffs. A press conference has been scheduled for 7:00pm this evening to give more details about Curry's situation.
Curry's Got Heart
With all the baseball and NCAA basketball going on, Chicagoist has been neglecting our Bulls of late so it time to get ya'll up to speed.
Bulls Draft: Grade A
As Chicagoist predicted, the Bulls' draft had its surprises. Wednesday night, the Bulls acquired the Phoenix Suns' 7th pick in return for a second round pick (31st), a future first round pick and cash.
