According to an email received by Chicagoist on Wednesday afternoon, the founder and owner of the popular local online food resource LTHForum, Gary Wiviott, may be forced to sell his interest in the site as part of a bankruptcy proceeding. Wiviott told us that LTH has never made any money and that he has run the site out of his personal funds. more ›

On Monday night, we were fortunate to attend the Great Neighborhood Restaurant awards, hosted by LTH Forum at Sun Wah BBQ. We love the GNR awards, because they are an expression of a genuine love for food and drink - mostly divorced from celebrity, media and hype. It's a chance for unsung independent spots to get their due, and the event was a great chance for nominators and forum members to meet some of the restaurant owners who serve them so much tasty food. From the "calm the fuck down" department: Jeff Ruby's list of his 30 favorite burgers turned the echo chamber at LTHForum up to 11, much of it centered on why Patty's Diner (3538 Main St., Skokie, 847-675-4274) didn't make Ruby's cut. Some samples (emphasis ours): more ›

• What began as a simple break-in at a house in Matteson led to that town's biggest pot bust ever.
• Students rallied at Northwestern yesterday in support of classmates who say they were the victims of racial profiling.

Sharon Bautista and Dimitra Tasiouras bonded over food, exploring the city and bicycles at LTHForum. Their new company Fork and the Road combines the three. "Dimitra had the idea of riding around on our bikes to compare gelato across the city. Since I'm a bit of a cycling geek, we named the tours we did last summer after major European stage road bike races: the Giro del Gelato (after the Giro d'Italia), the Tour de France and the Vuelta a Tacos (after the Vuelta a España)," said Bautista. more ›

"Be a Localvore, Put More Food On Your Table" will focus on what to look for at farmers markets and beyond into the dark days of winter. the 10 a.m. lecture costs $2.
• Father's Day at Café Matou (1846 N. Milwaukee) will feature a two-entrée grill menu for $24 from 5-9 p.m.
