Chicagoist's Weekend Wine Picks
Last Minute Plans: Bitters Madness!
Ira Koplowitz and Nick Kosevich, the duo behind Bittercube, will be dashing through town this weekend, making stops at two Lush Wine & Spirits locations. The Milwaukee-based outfit will be demonstrating its line of cocktail bitters at the Chicago Avenue Lush tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., and again from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at the Lush in Roscoe Village.
Sicilian Wine Event: Read and Drink Your Wine
Step away from your desk, your cube, your workspace, or wherever you reside right now and let’s take a trip to Sicily. How do we get there? If you are Robert V. Camuto, you get there by way of Southern France and you spend an entire year set on tapping into the emerging wine scene but you find there is more to the Sicilian vines through stories told by local families, musicians and celebrities alike.
Chicagoist's "Beer of the Week:" The Lost Abbey's Inferno Ale
Decided to cook with beer Sunday and whipped up some amazing buckwheat pancakes using a cup of Lost Abbey Inferno ale. Damned if they weren't some of the fluffiest we've had in a long time. the beer was good, too.
Friday Buffet
Beer, Beer, and MORE BEER. Speaking of, if anyone knows where in Chicago we can get a bottle of some Feldschlosschen Dunkle Perle (pictured), we'll will trim your toenails (okay, maybe not - but dinner's in it for you). Let's see what's in the hopper, foodies!
The Friday Buffet
We've got a Taste of Chicago preview for you later. In the meantime, here are some things around town to check out in the coming days.
Quick Bites
One More Bottle of Wine: Twisted Oak Winery's 2005 "The Spaniard" Blended Red Wine
Like a lot of you, we took advantage of yesterday's weather, donned some shorts and ate brunch (Vella). On the way home we decided to make a detour and taste some wines. The weekly tasting at Lush focused on the staff picks for 2007.
