Rose was 12-24 from the field for 31 points, but he also had 10 turnovers as the Sixers ran at the Bulls and attacked the basket all night. Before last night the Blackhawks were unable to break through against their former goalie Antti Niemi and the San Jose Sharks. But the offensive firepower that's been a part of the team's resurgence the past month finally got to Niemi. Marian Hossa scored twice on power plays and Patrick Kane scored the 100th goal of his career as the Blackhawks doubled up the Sharks 6-3 at the united Center. In the process, the Hawks avoided a regular season sweep by San Jose and vaulted back into fourth place in the tightly packed Western Conference. The 'Hawks have several things to thankful for this morning as they continue on a big roll. First, last night's game saw the Blackhawks debut for their big off-season free agent signing, Marian Hossa, who missed the start to the season thanks to off-season shoulder surgery. And, second, the 'Hawks' winning streak reached eight games as they cruised past San Jose 7-2. Troy Brouwer got a late first period goal for an early 1-0 lead. But early in the second, the 'Hawks cracked the game wide open when Hossa and Patrick Sharp scored short-handed goals within 28 seconds of each other. Midway through the period, Dustin Byfuglien added a goal and the 'Hawks went into the second intermission up 4-0. more ›

Well, that didn't take long. It seems the newly acquired Blackhawk Marian Hossa has a shoulder injury he sustained in this year's playoffs that he's rehabbing. Hossa, who signed a 12-year, $62.8 million deal three weeks ago, had informed the 'Hawks of the injury before the signing according to reports. According to the Tribune, "The extent of the injury and whether Hossa will have to undergo surgery to repair it are not yet known." more ›

The Chicago Blackhawks did some unveiling yesterday, first unveiling two of their bigger free agent signings this offseason to a crowd of fans at a press conference at the United Center and then unveiling their 2009-2010 schedule. New 'Hawks GM Stan Bowman introduced Marian Hossa and Tomas Kopecky, two big free agents that the 'Hawks swept from the Stanley Cup finalists Detroit Red Wings. more ›
