Bears Cut Mark Anderson

Bears Cut Mark Anderson

The new era of accountability at Halas Hall for everyone except Lovie Smith and Jerry Angelo continues with the release of underachieving defensive end Mark Anderson. Anderson made an immediate impact on the Bears as a rookie during their 2006 Super Bowl run, with a rookie franchise record 12 sacks. But he never was the same player and recorded only 9 sacks in the three-plus years following. It was hoped among Bears brass that the signing of Julius Peppers would lead to mismatches the other defensive linemen could take advantage of during games. Even With Peppers playing for the most part as advertised, those mismatches have not happened. more ›

What To Worry About With the Bears in 2007

With the Bears opening training camp on Friday, it's time to dust off the blue and orange, refresh our memories of last year's Super Bowl XLI appearance, and then start figuring out what to fret about come Week One. The Tribune points out their five areas of concern, while the Sun-Times gives us their ten things to watch for. 1. At the top of both lists is the quarterback situation. NFL Draft Preview

Just as the local sporting goods stores have finally moved out the last of their Bears NFC Champions merchandise, it's time for the Bears and the NFL teams to restock their roster during the NFL draft, which takes place Saturday and Sunday in New York. The draft begins at 11:00 am on Saturday, but there's no need to get up early to watch. The Bears don't draft until the 31st pick in the first round,... more ›

Lions Scare Bears

Lions Scare Bears

We can understand if the Bears were more focused on their Christmas plans than their game against the lowly Lions. Especially since there was nothing to play for, with a first round bye and home field advantage throughout the playoffs locked up already. But we figured they'd still have little difficulty beating the Lions. While they did end up winning the game 26-21, they had to work a little harder than expected. The Bears took... more ›

Orange Crush

Orange Crush

While the Bears had to come from way behind to steal their last victory against the Arizona Cardinals, the Bears win was never in doubt against the San Francisco 49ers this week as they took a 41-0 lead into the locker room at halftime en route to a 41-10 win. The Bears scored a field goal on their opening possession and then recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff. A Thomas Jones TD run gave... more ›

Bears Win 40-7, First 5-0 Start in 20 Years

Bears Win 40-7, First 5-0 Start in 20 Years

The last time the Bears opened up 5-0, they were coming off their victory in Super Bowl XX. They opened up the 1986 season 5-0 on the way to a 14-2 finish (and untimely departure from the playoffs). With their 40-7 victory over the Buffalo Bills, the Bears are 5-0 for the first time in 20 years. Could they also match that 14-2 record? Certainly looks possible, and an 8-0 start looks darn right... more ›

Bears Pick Apart Packers

Bears Pick Apart Packers

Well, that sure looked easy! Opening up at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, the Bears made it perfectly clear who controls the NFC North this year, shutting out the Packers 26-0. This was the first time in Brett Favre's career that the Packers had been held scoreless. The Bears put together a complete effort, winning this game because of their offense, defense and special teams. Rex Grossman looked like a real QB, compiling a 98.6... more ›
