Day one of the Pitchfork Music Festival went off with nary a hitch. Mission of Burma turned in an energetic and well received set, even thought the grounds were still slowly filling with attendees. Sebadoh's revisiting of 1993 brought back lots of fond memories to this writer, while pumping up and amplifying their classic tunes to great effect. We did notice that the majority of the crowd seemed into it, even if the age bracket......

The Pitchfork Music Festival kicks off its 2008 edition this weekend at Union Park, and we're going to highlight some of the "can't miss" acts of the weekend on Chicagoist over the next few days. Today we'll tackle the Friday night line-up, filled with nostalgia, brio, blood, sweat, tears, and louder than a Bomb Squad production. Other big names include Dinosaur Jr, Jarvis Cocker, and the team-up of Ghostface & Raekwon. Other support includes groups as varied in style as the shiny popsters Apples In Stereo, to the......

When Mission Of Burma reunited for a few shows a couple years ago we thought it was nice the old men were getting back together and getting some of the attention they certainly deserved. When we heard the reunion was going to be more or less permanent, we sort of prayed they wouldn't record a new album. They did anyway, and while we enjoyed it, we ultimately thought, "meh." Then they went ahead and......

We saw Mission Of Burma last summer at the Pitchfork Music Festival and were blown away. Our faces melted and those three old dudes made every single other kid that took the stage look like a bunch of pansies. (Do NOT interpret this to mean we didn’t thoroughly enjoy many of the acts that weekend, we were just caught unawares by Mission Of Burma’s fire scorching the crowd and burning more deeply than the 110......
