We love dogs, and we especially love getting them all together for a play date. That’s why we’re looking forward to the 14th annual Bark in the Park event going on this Saturday at Montrose Harbor.

With all the Cubs hoopla going down in Chicagoland lately, it’s only natural for thoughts to turn to … cremation. At least, that’s how Eric Zorn feels today in his Trib column. Know that song “Go Cubs Go” that the Wrigley faithful sing after every victory? You should by now; a welcome change from the past two years, they actually had a winning record at home this season. Zorn spins the tale of Steve Goodman,...

The South Side is getting their prayer on after last year's tragic incidents of children being caught in the crossfire. Jesse Jackson is going around asking parents to send their kids to school. And he's finding it ironic that he has to beg when African-Americans fought to go to school in the...

Chicago came in #44 in a ranking of the world's cities based on quality of life. The Field Museum got a new totem pole to replace the one they returned to an Alaskan tribe. A couple of historic bridge houses on the Monroe Street Bridge over the Chicago River's south branch are getting major makeovers. There's a 3rd videotaped bar fight involving an off-duty Chicago police officer. He's the brother of the guy who...

If you’re like Chicagoist, and we know that you are, you’re anxiously awaiting this weekend’s Clusterfest kickoff. Why wouldn’t you be? But if you can drag your ass out of bed early enough on Saturday, you can do a good deed and still have plenty of time to get yourself pretty for the big party. Just how pretty is up to you.

Chicagoist loves animals. More specifically, we love our dogs (some of which can be seen here), so we were pumped today when we came across 2 dog events and one dog study all in the same day!

Chicagoist has a friend, who has a friend that owns a sailboat, so we've gotten the chance to enjoy a Sunday afternoons out on Lake Michigan. When things get stressful at work or winter begins to drag into its 8th month, we begin dreaming of getting a sailboat and just sailing away. Maybe blog about the trip to help support the adventure...

On Saturday the Chicago skies will be filled with kites as Mayor Daley hosts the 7th Annual Kids & Kites Festival. The event takes place at Montrose Harbor and you can bring your own kite or there will be kite kits available so you can create and decorate your own kite. If you're like Chicagoist, whose kite always just nosedives into the ground and gets messed up, you'll want to take advantage of the kite-flying professionals and instructors who will be there to give you tips on how to fly a kite. There will also be strolling entertainment and crafts.

In these arctic temperatures, it's hard to be outside, especially long enough to expose yourself and then get your groove on with a complete stranger. Last summer when temperatures actually allowed public sex, Chicago police received hundreds of complaints about gay men having sex at the bird sanctuary at Montrose Harbor.
