NBC is counting on a new rhyme to advertise its Thursday night lineup, “Comedy Night Done Right”. It’s not quite as catchy as "Must See TV," and it sounds a bit …simple, but Vince Manze, President and Creative Director of The NBC Agency says, “It has all the great ingredients: It says there's a night of comedy and, of course, it rhymes.” The lineup includes "Scrubs," "My Name is Earl," "The Office" and "30 Rock."...

It must be easy for the writers of "My Name is Earl" to find ideas for the show, because all they have to do follow the local police blotters. A couple of these stories are ripe for an "Earl" episode, right down to the roles tailor-made for Joy and Crab Man. We wonder how many of these idiots believe in karma.
There comes a point during the month of December when one grows tired of the cheerful glowing lights, the bell-ringers, the snow, the crowds of people everywhere, the endless logistical nightmares and the omnipresent Christmas music that are part and parcel of the holiday season. We find ourselves reaching just such a point pretty early on this year. If, like us, you're on the verge of pistol-whipping the next motorist that nearly runs you down as you cross an icy street, then it's time to find a catharsis.
Chicagoist loves TV. We watch way too much of it. And we enjoy finding stories that sound like they came from some of the television shows we’ve watched over the years – like, say, “Boston Public,” “Arrested Development” or “My Name is Earl.”
On our "My Name Is Earl"-sized list of places to dine out (so named because something always gets added to the list and we'll never truly fulfill it) May St. Café was always near the top. When we finally decided to scratch that particular itch in autumn the Pilsen restaurant was closed, however. We never thought that we'd have a second chance to check out the place. But while the Seahawks and referees conspired to hand the Super Bowl to the Steelers the other night, a friend of Chicagoist mentioned that May St. Café had re-opened. So we thanked whatever higher power that answers our prayers for the new opportunity to cross May St. Café off our list.
