No Age's latest album Everything in Between is our favorite of theirs yet. Perhaps this is because the band is deeply rooted in a sound that reminds us of a time when the world was ruled by DIY sleeves on 7" singles, or perhaps it's just because they've proved unusually adept at laying discordant fuzz over eminently hummable melodies and that hits us right in our sweet spot. We really like the sloppy Springsteen-punk of Titus Andronicus. Their debut, The Airing of Grievances, is chock-full of Springsteen-ian anthems fueled by snotty punk speed-freakery. Their self-titled anthem kicks off with drums that sound like Phil Spector manning a cell-phone recorder before exploding into a seriously distorted harmonica and finishing with the band injecting an optimistic fervor into the nihilistic refrain of "your life is over." more ›

Pitchfork announced another batch of acts appearing at its festival in Union Park this summer from July 18 - 20. The biggest hoopla surrounds the news that Mission Of Burma will be performing it's legendary Vs. album in it's entirety on Friday's bill. The Empty Bottle, in conjunction with Britain's The Wire magazine, will host this weekend's fifth annual Adventures in Modern Music festival, a self-described "celebration of 'outsider sounds.'"
