Make your own Obama logo. This isn't an endorsement. Think of this more as a challenge. Get creative.

It’s that time of year when our kids begin to get stir crazy. With the parks snowed over, and the temps discouraging any neighborhood meandering, these indoor play areas are godsends. The idea is that you pay per visit (or pay less by becoming a member or buying visits in bulk), and spend a few hours with your kid, playing in their space. Each location has huge interactive areas, stocked with toys you can ride on or slide down, dress up clothes and props. Many of these places indicate they serve a 6 month - 6 year age range, but we’ve found that kids 12 months- 4 years are most entertained. These three locations also offer a cafeteria area for you to brown bag it. Check websites for hours and more info.

Last Call Cleveland will be at Sketchfest Friday and Saturday at 9pm.

Our pal Gena was at the John C. Reilly/Dewey Cox thing yesterday (where she took the picture above and a hundred others), and she tells us Reilly-as-Cox was amazing, "never breaking character and ad libbing with the best of them, sweating like a rock star and gyrating like one, too." He also busted out a cover of Amy Winehouse's "Rehab," which we want to hear so very badly. She adds, "The band was remarkably...

Happy first weekend of September - and happy Labor Day weekend, too, for our American cities! Let's take a look at what's been happening around the Ist-a-verse. The deaths of two firefighters shook Bostonist this week. Boston's firefighters bent over backwards all week long - first, they fought flames pouring from the Boston Tea Party museum, and then a restaurant fire killed two and injured many more. Their efforts make everything else - like Tom...

Here’s what we missed while we were watching loud, fast planes and asthmatic midgets: Bailiwick Rep is working to expand their audience with Hogwash, a family friendly improv show, playing Saturday afternoons through November 17, and a special “Naked Night” performance of Barenaked Lads September 7 where performers and audience alike will bare it all. And it’s for a good cause. (link is NSFW, more or less) As foundation work commences for the Chicago Spire,...

As an occasional peruser of adult entertainment (NSFW), Chicagoist couldn't resist watching Ron "The Hedgehog" Jeremy debate Pastor Craig Gross about pornography last night at the Lakeshore Theater. As pastor of the XXXChurch, Gross has been on a mission for the last five years. A mission not to eradicate pornography ("I don't want to shut down porn," says Pastor Craig), but to help people overcome what they consider a problem, like alcohol, drugs, or gambling....

In 1907 Essanay Studios shot a short slapstick film on the streets of Old Town entitled An Awful Skate. It cost a few hundred dollars but went on to make thousands; perhaps as much as $10,000 (which, adjusted for inflation, would be about $216,000 today). A recent profile in the Trib gives a brief history of the once-booming studio, which had facilities in both Chicago and California. Between 1907 and 1917 Essanay churned out...

Chicagoist loves the folks over at B News Update and read them regularly for their refreshingly candid take on things in our neighborhood from the perspective of those born in Bridgeport.

If it hasn't been drilled into your heads yet, street festival season is kicking into high gear. This week, we'll highlight a couple to check out, as well as feature one of the more humorous press releases to reach our inbox this week. Strap it on! We'll Call Ours the "Triple Bypass": Wendy's is hosting an online contest to see who can design their next burger. Folks who log on to www.thisismyburger.com can choose from...

If Monday’s holiday has you cramming five days of work into a four-day week and the headlines are only aggravating you further, you need to put the laptop away and get yourself to a comedy show this weekend. The Blerds, a cabal of mostly Chicago-based comics and a film producer, are celebrating their Paper Anniversary Saturday night at The Spot. Drink specials have been promised. The good people at The Bastion are totally crushing on...

Let's start the buffet off with this video this video singing the praises of the Harold's 6-piece wing dinner. The language is NSFW, but if you're watching this in the office, you're probably the only one left, so crank it. Memorial Day is the (un)official start of grilling season. We've had the grill on an eternal flame for two months now, but loaded up on fresh vegetables from the farmer's market, tri-tip steaks from...

With all the commentary from Elizabeth's Uncle Julio's post still fresh in mind, we gleaned this little tidbit from today's Sun-Times. Zagat released the results of its first-ever fast food survey. Using the same three criteria that they use for every other restaurant they rate (food, service, and atmosphere) Panera Bread came out on top as the best overall fast food chain. Raters praised the quality of Panera's "fresh-baked breads" and "top-notch sandwiches." Wendy's was...

First-round draft pick Greg Olsen is getting a quick lesson in media scrutiny after the local press discovered a raunchy rap that Olsen, rapping under the G-Reg moniker, recorded along with a number of his fellow dorm mates / teammates. The 7th Floor Crew, as they called themselves, recorded the rap, and somebody posted it to a MySpace page (warning: NSFW lyrics, autoplay music) for all to hear. And yes, the lyrics are very explicit...

It seems like, all across the network, folks were up to no good. Maybe it was all the green beer from last weekend... Gothamist spent the week writing about New Yorkers behaving badly: at the post office, at the Garden, and at the fertility clinic. Calvin Klein may not be misbehaving, but he's just a little dirty, and in a completely different way than some NYC kitchens. SFist had its share of misbehave-rs, too, like...

It’s not often that the American public surprises Chicagoist. We’re usually pretty good at guessing the trends of middle minds across the country, but last night we were surprised … twice.

We beg Flannery O’Connor’s forgiveness from the great beyond for that headline, but a few tidbits we stumbled across recently just go to show that, in the weird world of TV, all paths eventually cross. You just can’t make this stuff up: Tonya Cooley of MTV’s “Real World Chicago” has gone soft-core, appearing in the Cinemax opus The Erotic Traveler 02: Lost in Ecstasy. (We would argue that “Real World” is itself soft-core, but what...

Only one more week to go, Bears fans. Someday, someone will tell us what good it does to make the Super Bowl two weeks after the championships. All it does now is give the papers an extra week to stretch the limits of journalism and fill their pages with anything tangentially relating to the Bears. One story did catch our eye, though: The plight of one Bryan Lange. Lange is a host on a cable...

Anyone who's been reading all of the posts on Chicagoist about bike riding and just how cool it is will be excited to know that this Friday is again a happy Friday, time for Critical Mass. The massive monthly ride will start some time around 5:30PM at Daley Plaza, mark your calendars. If you stick it out for the whole route, you'll probably be out until 10PM so plan accordingly. An Oktoberfest themed route is planned to celebrate Chicago's German heritage. The best way to do that is of course by biking past places that serve or are involved in the history of delicious beer. For a nice narrative introduction to just what critical mass is check this video from Inside Chicago (partially NSFW.) The crowd is usually very diverse and energetic so you are bound to find some like-minded people to ride with.

Celebrate Ben Franklin's 300th birthday with the Bikini Bandits and Phillyist! (NSFW). Speaking of Mr. Franklin, send in a picture of Ben (or Ed Rendell) with a red tongue and win a free t-shirt. And they might have the next YearlyKos in Philly.

Our friends at Lavender Cabaret are warming up their boob tubes for their final January performance of Femme TV this weekend and they’d like to see some Chicagoist readers in the audience. So we’re giving away ten single tickets to ten lucky readers.

World premieres run amok in Chicago this week, with Sunday’s kick-off of the never-fully-produced Tennessee Williams play "One Arm" at Steppenwolf and the upcoming debut of director Robert Altman’s "A Wedding" at the Lyric Opera.

Do you come from a family of assholes? Then the Sun-Times is here for you! In a story that we cannot believe escaped the grasp of the Trib's WomanNews, the Sun-Times takes on…gung gung gung…what to do when your family asks you why you aren't married.

What could be better than sexy girls baring all while bearing Big Macs? Chicagoist sure can't think of anything. And now our fantasy has come true, thanks to two Chicago institutions. Playboy magazine features "Women of McDonald's" in a special Playboy.com (NSFW) feature.
