We've all seen the bumpers this week on CBS2 where Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas tells Pam Zekman, "Channel 2 is not gonna tell Maria Pappas how to run her office." Maybe not. But the CBS2/Better Government Association investigation that brought to public attention Pappas' $94,000 driver and $57,000 cleaning lady has uncovered more wasteful taxpayer spending in the form of Pappas' Treasurers Outreach Program (TOPS), a program former Treasurer's Office employees said is nothing more than an excuse for Papppas to throw a good old-fashioned Greek party that they were forced to work.

10With: Let's Get Media Critical!
On today's 10With, we take a short break from the normal "find someone to blither with and ask 'em a bunch of questions" construct of the standard Chicagoist Podcast Series. Instead, we're breaking down a recent investigative piece from CBS2, and an anti-Brian Doherty ad circulating on TV, neither of which make much sense at all.
CBS Investigates Public Sex "Near" the MSI
Pam Zekman, an investigative reporter for CBS 2, is always one to go after the pressing issues that affect Chicago citizens most -- and this time, it's sex in public on the city's South Side. Zekman received a tip from a man who regularly drives school kids to the Museum of Science and Industry, who says he's spotted naked men have oral sex in their cars and engaging in "sexual activity" in a nearby public restroom in a parking lot supposedly right by the MSI. He called the activity "disgusting for the location" and "disrespectful for the kids and the tourists that come out there."
Believe It Or Not: Indictment for G-Rod?
Maybe we don't want to get our hopes up yet. Maybe we're a little too cynical. Or maybe we're just a little hesitant to put a lot of stock in one unattributed story coming out of a struggling news group, whose biggest recent story has been the moving of their own studios to Daley Plaza.* So we're not exactly rushing to judgement on this one. But if this is for real, it's a hell of a scoop for CBS-2. (You'll allow us our Feder-esque moment of speculation.)
