We know what you're thinking - "Chicagoist, is this really the BEST deal of February? How can you tell? It's only the first day of the month!" Let's just say that it would take some serious effort for any other restaurant to top this. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Petterinos is offering a $10, three course meal all day on February 7th. Even better, the meal isn't completely pre-set. You get choices and a great deal. Beat that.
Best Deal in February at Petterino's
Do This - Petterino's 7 After 7
Finding food in the loop after dark can be a challenge. Usually it's terrible, overpriced or both - or, the restaurant closes at 6 PM once the businesspeople go home. We were surprised to stumble upon a fairly awesome deal at Petterino's that seems custom-made to fit that gap.
Bad Night for Taxis
Last night was an awful time to be in the way of a taxi. First, a taxi hit a bicyclist near Grant Park, severely injuring the rider. The accident happened at East Balbo and South Columbus Drives around 10 p.m. last night. Chicago police say the taxi had the right of way in the accident so no citations were issued to the driver; the rider was last reported in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Later, two taxis collided on Dearborn, sending one into Petterino's (150 N. Dearborn). No one was hurt, but it was the second time a taxi had hit the restaurant in a little over a month, the previous accident happening on April 14.
Extra, Extra
- There might be good left in the world after all -- The Windy Citizen tells the tale of the Pittsburgh Samaritan who set out to Chicago to do good deeds for strangers he found on Craigslist.
- A husband and wife were arrested after they were caught at a South Barrington theater recording the Hannah Montana movie with a video camera. Authorities claim a subsequent search of their house turned up over 44,000 bootleg DVDs and CDs. Fortunately we were able to get a copy for our private collection before the bust.
- It might get a whole lot riskier to drive on a suspended license -- Alderman Tom Allen (38th) is pushing an ordinance that would allow police to impound your vehicle if you get caught.
