Yesterday, a day after accusing Wrigley Field fans as being racist, Milton Bradley went out and did...nothing to silence his non-racist critics, going 0-for-5 in the Cubs 5-4 loss to the worst team in baseball. For the 2009 season, Bradley's stats are .255 Avg/ 11 HR/ 35 RBIs in 106 games played. Sure, it's slightly better than the stat line of departed OF Felix Pie (hitting .261/5 HR/18 RBIs in 81 games played in Baltimore), but Pie's contract for 2009 is also $9.5 million less than Bradley's. ANYWAY. Bradley also addressed his comments from the day before, telling the Sun-Times:

Baines Almost Bounced From Ballot
Who among us hasn't accidentally forgotten to do something that we then really feel guilty about? Like maybe failing to call our Mom on her birthday? Or forgetting to include one of our favorites on our Hall of Fame ballot and almost seeing him forever dropped from the ballot?
Cubs & White Sox Face Off in 2007
We Chicago sports fans sure didn't have very long to mourn the end of the Bulls season. Barely 12 hours later, the trash talking is reaching a fever pitch, as the Cubs and White Sox face off for the first time in 2007. Wrigley Field hosts the first installment of the city's annual crosstown showdown, beginning with Friday's matinee. The teams enter this weekend's series on opposite trajectories, with the Sox having won eight of...
Cubs, Zambrano Agree on 1-Year Deal
It looked like the Cubs and Carlos Zambrano were headed to a contentious arbitration hearing yesterday, but the two sides negotiated right up to the hearing's start time and came to an agreement on a 1-year, $12.4 million deal.
The Waiting Game
It looks like we're not the only ones anxiously awaiting a verdict in the George Ryan corruption trial. Yesterday Eric Zorn had a feeling the jury would come back with a verdict rather than spend all weekend stressed about continuing deliberations on Monday. Then the reporters hanging around the Dirksen federal building were all aflutter when two of the jurors appeared to be dressed up yesterday. Alas, there was no verdict announced.
Jail Escape Drama Continues
A lot has happened since last week when we talked about a politically misguided Cook County jail guard, Darin Gater, who helped six inmates escape in an attempt to help out sheriff candidate Richard Remus.
So Long Sosa?
Throughout Florida and Arizona, players begin reporting to Spring Training to begin preparation for the 2006 season. However, it's looking like one play who won't be reporting to any camp is former Cubs outfielder Sammy Sosa, who turned down an offer from the Washington Nationals. The only Major League offer Sosa received, the Nats deal only offered a non-guaranteed 1-year, $500,000 deal. Having already turned down offers from teams in Japan and overtures from the Dominican team to play in the upcoming World Baseball Championships, Sosa's agent said, "... I can say, with reasonable certainty, that we've seen Sammy in a baseball uniform for the last time."
Five Chicago All Stars
Major League Baseball announced its All Star rosters over the holiday weekend, and at least five Chicago players will be in Detroit for the game on July 12th. Representing the White Sox will be Paul Konerko, Jon Garland and Mark Buehrle. Konerko was a bit of a surprise, considering his .247 batting average. But it's kind of a make-up call for last year's snub when he was hitting close to .300 at the time. Garland and Buehrle clearly deserve their selections. In fact, one or the other is likely to be the starting AL pitcher for the game. Having already earned $15,000 bonuses for making the team, each have an additional $10,000 bonus riding on starting the game.
All-Chicago Team
It's the eve of the first meeting between the Cubs and the White Sox in 2005. For the players, it's an off day. But their fans are beginning to get riled up across the city. Debates, and probably fist fights, have fans of both teams disagreeing on the merits of their team vs. the other team. While the Sox are clearly the better team, reason played little part in these debates. And sometimes reason is...
Big Break
Actually, two big breaks is more appropriate. The first big break is the one discovered in White Sox ace Mark Buehrle's foot. In a freak accident, Buehrle felt something pop while shagging fly balls in the outfield yesterday. An x-ray showed a hairline fracture and now Buehrle is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.
