And then there were four.
Top Chef Power Rankings: Week 11
In the weeks leading up to the Top Chef Chicago premiere we said of Dale Talde that he was a candidate deserving of "hav(ing) the smirk smacked off his face with a greasy, red-hot spatula." He was confident in his abilities and rubbed some contestants the wrong way. But it was tough watching Dale as he knew his time on the show was up. Watching him break down in tears made us think, "this is the same guy who shook his junk in front of Lisa a few episodes back?"
Top Chef Power Rankings: Week 10
We wrote in last week's power rankings that one of the things that keeps us coming back to Top Chef Chicago week after week is to finally see when Lisa will leave. That seemed imminent last week, after she landed in the bottom three in both the quickfire and elimination challenges.
Top Chef Power Rankings: Week 9
It's starting to become anticlimactic in what, for us, has been an underwhelming season of "Top Chef." We really tried to get sucked into the show, with its local setting and local contestants. But it just seems as though all we've seen is the inside of the Boystown Whole Foods week after week, as if it's the only one in the city.
Top Chef Power Rankings: Week 7
One thing that has never happened throughout the series run of "Top Chef" has been a female chef taking home the big prize, as monotoned by Padma in the introductions. If one wins this season, she won't be Jennifer Biesty (left in photo, with her lovah Zoi), who flamed out marvelously last week.
Top Chef Rankings: Week 6
Last week we said we fully expected to see self-styled cheffing "prodigy" Ryan Scott to be the next eliminated on "Top Chef." From the moment in the premiere we saw Ryan gather his luggage at the airport and talking about how he was running the line at his parents' restaurant at the tender age of twelve, the question in our minds wasn't if he'd be asked to pack up his knives and go, but when.
"Top Chef" Power Rankings: Week 2
What a difference a week makes. If last week's episode of "Top Chef Chicago" showed us anything, it's that the competition is not a sprint. Someone should have reminded Mark the Hobbit of that as he was barreling through Green City Market looking for his five ingredients for the Quickfire challenge (with Richard almost taking out a kid a close runner-up).
Bears Beat Jets
While the game was reminiscent of last year's team, the Bears won yet again on Sunday by beating the Jets 10-0 at Giants Stadium. The defense was in top form, creating key turnovers and holding the Jets when it looked like they were close to scoring. Brian Urlacher intercepted the ball in the end zone when the Jets looked poised to open the scoring. The teams went into the intermission tied at 0-0. Perhaps the...
February Was a Good Month for Bulls
Chicagoist pointed out the importance of February to the Bulls' success at the start of the month. The Bulls exceeded even our optimistic forcast by going 7-4 in the month, and moved to 5 games over .500 for the season with a 29-24 record. It wasn't easy with 8 road games and games against many of the league's best teams -- but they won key games against Dallas, Sacramento and Miami. People are beginning to...
