We're feeling quite presidential these days. Besides Hyde Park's most famous resident currently entrenched as POTUS #44, we mentioned earlier that #43, George W. Bush, will be in town later this month for a private function. And now we know that if you have a little extra money to donate, you can catch #42, William J. Clinton, this week at the House of Blues appearing with hip-hop star Common. The event is a fundraiser for the William J. Clinton Foundation Millennium Network, a network that seeks to engage individuals age 45 and younger in the work of the Clinton Foundation. The Clinton Foundation’s seven initiatives deliver tangible results to tackle pressing issues including HIV/AIDS, global warming, economic opportunity worldwide, and the childhood obesity epidemic in the United States. The Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center has announced former President Bill Clinton will speak at the museum's public grand opening on Sunday, April 19. In a press release, Richard S. Hirschhaut, the museum's executive director, said, "President Clinton's participation in the dedication of this world-class institution truly sets the tone for what we want the museum to be. Not only does President Clinton's attendance underscore the urgency of our mission, but also the important role we must all play in combating intolerance and genocide throughout the world today." Clinton will join Governor Pat Quinn as well as several Holocaust survivors for the festivities. Located at 9603 Woods Drive in Skokie, tours of the museum will follow the festivities. It seems like everybody in town knows Tony Rezko's name. And why not? Besides being under federal indictment, he's a big player in Illinois politics. He's also gotten some national attention, with Former Gov. It's not official, but speculation has turned to expectation that 15-term northwest suburban Congressman Henry Hyde will announce in April that this is his last term in Congress. The staunch conservative will be 82 when term ends in 2006, and due to House of Representative rules, he is no longer eligible to keep his chairmanship of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Ex-President Bill Clinton kicked off the book tour for his new book, "My Life", yesterday at BookExpo America, the annual booksellers convention. Of his 900 page (!) tome, Clinton says, "I don't settle a lot of scores in this book," which causes us to wonder, then why would a political personality write a book at all? more ›
