Chicagoist spends our fair share of time visiting Chicago's various drinking establishments, yet we feel there is still a thing or two we could learn about partying hard from Bears QB Kyle Orton. Apparently we're not the only ones. An unidentified student at the University of Illinois would like to learn from from Orton, too. He wrote the NFL and requested that Kyle Orton accompany him to school, as part of their Take a Player...

There's been very little Chicago Bears football that could be called pretty this season, but they've sometimes shown just enough to make us think they might be able to win the weak NFC North. They entered Sunday's games in first place with a 1-2 record, and for a while it looked like they'd even up their record. However, a low scoring affair between two offensively inept teams changed in the final three minutes and the...
While visions of playoff danced in Bears Fans' heads after last week's 37-6 victory over the Lions, another group of cats brought them back down to earth yesterday. The Cincinnati Bengals won 24-7, picking off Kyle Orton 5 times. While the Bears fall to 1-2 on the season, the Bengals are a surprising 3-0 for the first time since 1990. Are they really that good? Yeah, they are... Some may point the finger at Bears...
Something told Chicagoist that the Bears had the potential to be a pretty good football team this season, and Sunday's game was about what we'd imagined a good Bears team might look like. Scoring in just about every possible way, the Bears beat the Detroit Lions 38-6. The 38 points were the largest offensive output by the Bears since 1993. The game was truly a team effort as the offense capitalized on turnovers caused by...
After 5 preseason games with included a Apprentice-like quarterback competition but no first round draft pick, we finally got to see the real Chicago Bears as they opened the regular season in Washington against the Redskins. As Chicagoist expected, the Bears-Redskins game was a low scoring affair with two of last year's three worst offenses playing each other. Washington won 9-7, with their three field goals enough offense to counter the lone TD in the game -- scored by the Bears.
Are you ready for some Bears football? Chicagoist sure is! The preseason is over, the roster is set and the Bears head into 2005 full of optimism but with a rookie QB leading the offense. Will they see an improvement over last year's woeful 5-11 campaign? Or will they continue to languish at the bottom of the NFL standing? With the Bears season starting on Sunday, we thought we'd take a look at what's in...
Early in the day, Bears coach Lovie Smith called rookie QB Kyle Orton into his office to inform him he was being named the starting QB. Orton has played very well throughout the preseason while former Grossman back-up Chad Hutchinson has not. Through their first 4 preseason games, Orton had a QB Rating of 92.3 while Hutchinson's was a horrific 23.1, including a 0.0 in Friday night's game against Buffalo. With Hutchinson bumped all the way down to 4th on the current depth chart behind Jeff Blake and Kurt Kittner, we may have seen the last of Hutchinson in a Bears uniform. Chicagoist sure is glad that Lovie is a bit more responsive to performance-based personnel changes than a certain baseball manager is. Lovie recognized that somebody wasn't doing the job and he wasted little time in handing over the reigns to somebody more capable.
