Nurses United, City Reach Deal On Protest Permit

On Friday, National Nurses United and city officials reached an agreement to host a rally with Tom Morello in Daley Plaza. The city threatened to revoke the permit for the march and rally after they added Morello as a performer, citing crowd control concerns. The Sun-Times reported the city will allow a two-hour stationary rally in Daley Plaza with 30 minutes of music permitted at the end, rather than a march and rally that would have lasted five hours. more ›

Tom Morello Threatens To Rage Against Rahm's Machine

"If Rahm Emanuel is so afraid of my popularity in Chicago maybe I should run against him in the next election. See you in the streets." more ›

Tom Morello: Former Exotic Dancer

Now excuse us while we try to get the image of Morello shaking his little Nightwatchman to a roomful of bachelorettes out of our mind. more ›

Nightwatchman To Play Union Benefit Show

Nightwatchman To Play Union Benefit Show

Tom Morello is a pretty busy guy. He’s guitarist for both Rage Against the Machine and the lesser-known rap-rock group, Street Sweeper Social Club, and he’s also been performing solo since 2003 as the Nightwatchman, using the folk-playing alter-ego as an outlet for his liberal political views. Morello will make a visit to Chicago April 30, performing at the Bottom Lounge as the Nightwatchman to benefit the Industrial Workers of the World, an international union that promotes uniting all workers as one class and abolishing the wage system. more ›

Lolla Schedule is Up, One Day Tickets Available

Lolla Schedule is Up, One Day Tickets Available

If you were holding off on picking up tickets to this year's Lollapalooza until you knew for sure when your favorite bands were playing, the day-by-day schedule just went up this morning. We still kind of wish Radiohead was closing out Sunday instead of playing Friday, forcing us to sprint a mile or so in 15-minutes so we can see The Raconteurs too. And I guess we'll be missing Wilco at Lolla for the second time, since Rage Against The machine is a must-see in our book Saturday night. Also, the head-to-head match between Kanye West and Nine Inch Nails on Sunday night is going to be super interesting. Wonder how that will play out? more ›

Lollapalooza Headliners Announced, Awesomeness Abounds

Lollapalooza Headliners Announced, Awesomeness Abounds

DeRo has the lowdown on a bunch of other confirmed Lollapalooza acts. We already knew Radiohead, Nine Inch Nails, and Rage Against The machine would be headlining, but now you can add Racontuers, Kanye West, and Wilco to that list. We'd bitch about the fact that three of the six headliners have already played Lolla, which in its current incarnation is still a neophyte, but fuck it, we love all the headliners so we'll keep our trap shut. more ›

Empty Out Your Wallet

Empty Out Your Wallet

We don’t want to be stuck inside today, but there are no baseball games to sneak off to this afternoon. Instead, we will ponder where we could spend that paycheck besides the usual beer gardens and brothels. We haven’t seen Bumpus play live since Rachel Yamagata left to forge her own path. From the sound of things we need to get back on the funkwagon. Contriband, a Chicago experimental hip hop group, and Doko Benjo,... more ›
