Michelin Announces 2012 Bib Gourmand List
These are our favorite awards, even better than the restaurants that earn those coveted stars. Not only do they come with a super-cool logo, chalked in the night by Michelin's team of restaurant ninjas, they signify "affordable" restaurants.
Oprah to Reveal "Family Secret" Today
So what is the "family secret" Oprah Winfrey will reveal on her show this morning that she alluded to on Thursday's show? If author Kitty Kelley is to be believed, it's a half-sister the Big O has never met before. Winfrey's production reps are mum on the subject, and Winfrey herself said that the secret is the "miracle of miracles" and "news that literally shook me to my core."
Michelin Selects Chicago for Destination Guide
For travelers the world over, the Michelin Guides often serve as an ultimate decoder for unfamiliar cities. For chefs, earning a star from the Michelin Guide, while not on the level of a Beard Award, is still such a significant accomplishment that many of them list the recognition in their résumés.
Everybody Is Watching The Blackhawks
With the number of brand-spanking new Blackhawks jerseys we've seen folks wearing around town, we knew the team's bandwagon was getting pretty full. After all, everyone loves a winner and wants to be a part. But at least the new fans are translating to big ratings, good news for a league still recovering from missing an entire season just a few years ago. Monday night's Game Two was the highest rated Stanley Cup Finals Game Two . The overnights in Chicago were also big: a 25.1 rating and 39 share. Here's hoping both the high ratings and the victorious results continue tonight when the puck drops on Game Three. It should be interesting to see how much ratings drop as the series now switches to cable network Versus for Games Three and Four.
Blackhawks Earn Big Ratings, All-Star Trio
A few days after this year's Winter Classic, and the ratings are in. The prognosis? Good. Very good. Better than last year, in fact. It earned the NHL's best overnight ratings in 13 years and increased 12 percent over last year's game.
This year's outdoor game between the Blackhawks and Red Wings earned a 2.9 overnight rating and a 6 share. Each overnight ratings point equals about 735,000 TV homes. Last year's game featuring the Pittsburgh Penguins and Buffalo Sabres had a 2.6 overnight rating and 5 share...In Chicago, Thursday's game drew a national high of an 11.8 rating and 21 share, with Detroit second at 10.5 and 21.Though the 'Hawks ultimately dropped the game (and every other game to the Wings this year), they remain the up-and-coming team of the league this season and have been rewarded, sending three players to next month's All-Star game in Montreal. Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews were the top two Western Conference vote-getters, with 917,551 and 809,599 votes, respectively. Defenseman Brian Campbell is the third 'Hawk to get an All-Star nod.
