A damp chill continues its hold on the area. Scattered light rain will continue over the area through mid-day. Highs will struggle to reach the mid-40s, remaining well below normal temps this time of year. Lows tonight will drop to around 40 but some brisk winds will add to the chill. It's a yucky start to the weekend, but Skilling insists some milder air is awaiting us on the other side of Sunday. And if you're in the mood for celebrating, get down for World Food Day.

It'd be a great day to stay inside under the warm covers of our bed...if it weren't a weekday. Damn. While we recover from being eaten by the rain monster lingering snow showers will fall throughout the morning and blustery winds of up to 20 mph will make it feel colder than the mid-20's that it'll be. Skies will remain cloudy tonight with lows near 20. As for yesterday, 1.9 inches of rain was recorded at O'Hare, shattering the previous record for February 26 (0.92 inches). But just be glad it wasn't colder: the amount of rain that fell would have translated to roughly 20 inches of snow.

NBC 5 sportscaster Mike Adamle has led a charmed life in front of the camera. His good looks and Northwestern pedigree have granted him the opportunity to work at ABC 7, CBS 2 and NBC 5 as lead sportscaster. For a generation, he's also known as the host of the original "American Gladiators." Give Adamle a script and time to prepare, he's a solid broadcaster.

When the temperature in Chicago is 80 degrees with 100 percent humidity, a giant sandwich of stacked meat and melted cheese is slightly less appealing to us that it was four months ago. In our quest to find a sandwich that won’t put us into a cured meat coma, we ventured to the mecca of Chicago’s health food extremists. We went raw.
