Sox Show Gets Debut Date

In a move that's either perfectly timed or perfectly timed to jinx their big mid-season run, the White Sox are heading to the small screen this weekend in reality show form. Like "The Hills" with Ozzie and Kenny instead of L.C. and Heidi, "The Club" documents the White Sox' 2010 from January through the beginning of May in a six episodes, each an hour long. Oprah Winfrey’s production company is proposing a new daytime talk show featuring Chicago interior designer and decorator Nate Berkus, which means he’s poised to join Dr. Phil, Rachael Ray, and Dr. Oz as the newest member of the ‘I was a regular Oprah guest and now I have my own show’ clique. The as-yet-titled show is slated for 2010 and would be the second collaboration between Harpo Productions and its distributor, Sony Pictures Television. Their first collaboration, "The Dr. Oz Show" premiered earlier this year and had the best first-run talk show debut in seven years, according to Broadcasting & Cable. more ›

Despite the fact that he already has terrific ratings in his reality show "the news," Rod Blagojevich is requesting permission from the judge to allow him to go to Costa Rica in June to film a "Swiss Family Robinson"-style reality show for NBC called, "I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!" Blago will be dropped in the middle of the jungle with nine other celebrities, including Nancy Kerrigan, and they will compete for food and supplies. Viewers will vote people off, and Blago would make $80,000 per episode. The show's website says, "The last remaining star will be crowned King or Queen of the Jungle, winning a substantial cash prize for their favorite charity."
