Don’t worry toy nerds! It’s only one week! It’ll all be over this Friday, when Rotofugi reopens in their new location at Lincoln and Diversey in Lincoln Park with what looks like a titillating (ha) reopening show, Playboy Redux. Earlier this week, we stopped by the new location, which is gorgeous and far more accessible than the old Chicago Ave spot, even if it is in a less “cool” area.

Weekend Happenings
Another Friday, another round of activities taking place in our city — and they do not even involve Olympics, or Olympians, or Olympia Dukakis. Just look at some of the things you can do!:
Go Looking
Perhaps you couldn't afford to Lolla this year -- sux. Or maybe you are disenchanted with the whole music festival scene: the $6 hot pretzel dinners, and the foul-smelling porta-potties, and the crappy bands you have to sit through to get to the good bands. Well, we are here to remind you that you have entertainment options -- and they don't involve wristbands, or Perry Farrell, or the onset of tinnitus, or even hot pretzels. Instead, they involve mingling, and pine-scented bathrooms, and possibly some bowls of Sun Chips. Oh -- and visual art!
Tara McPherson Book Signing at Rotofugi
There’s a hint of melancholy in the eyes of artist Tara McPherson’s characters—wan, porcelain faces that remind us of a cross between Blythe Dolls and the lovably macabre creatures born from Tim Burton’s brain. If you’re a fan of the scary fairytale style, head to Rotofugi this Saturday where McPherson will be signing her latest book, Lost Constellations. Published by Dark Horse comics, this new release chronicles the NYC-based artist’s most recent paintings, drawings, and sculpture. Also on display will be McPherson’s new Kidrobot mini-figure series, Gamma Mutant Space Friends.

If you're like us, you spent February wishing you could move to an isolated land mass in the South Pacific where the only other inhabitants were a species of non-bitey rodent that you could pet and cuddle with without fear. Unfortunately, we don't know where this oasis exists, so we must find other, local alternatives while we search our Goode's Atlas in vain.
