Chaos erupted on the Mag Mile yesterday when police were involved in a shooting while trying to apprehend a woman who tried to use stolen credit cards at the Louis Vuitton store (919 N. Michigan Ave.). Employees recognized the woman from a previous visit and notified police who went to apprehend the woman. She attempted to get-away with a male companion, who was driving a black Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Heavy traffic, however, prevented the get-away and the driver fled on foot. The woman attempted to drive the car herself, at that point, but police caught up to her and a struggle ensued during which the woman allegedly tried to grab an officer's gun. According to a statement released by police [via the Sun-Times], “The female offender struggled with an officer and attempted to disarm the officer, at which point shots were fired and the female offender was struck in the abdomen." more ›
