Friday Afternoon Diversion: Live Music Edition

We’re busy people, and you probably are, too. So if you’re not getting out to the clubs to see enough live music, this edition of Friday Afternoon Diversion is for you. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah haters will want to skip this clip of the band's recent appearance at the Vic. Turn down your speakers a little for this Wolf Parade clip from Metro back in August, when they peformed a new song called... more ›

The Grit, the Grime, and the Glory

The Grit, the Grime, and the Glory

A scene of warehouses and industrial grit served as the stage backdrop during this weekend’s Touch & Go 25th Birthday Party and we can’t think of a better visual fit for the label’s aural aesthetic. Many of the bands performing over the weekend fit perfectly within the visual suggestion set about by the mega-urban “City That Works” setting, thus setting this festival apart from the lush environs experienced during Intonation / Pitchfork / Lollapalooza earlier... more ›

The Right Kind of Touch (& Go)

The Right Kind of Touch (& Go)

Okay, we suppose we should mention, again, that the Hideout block party / Touch & Go 25th Anniversary show kicks off today. We're not going to really go into just how psyched we are for this, or how much we're looking forward to seeing Scratch Acid, or wondering just how the boys that put the peg in Pegboy will fare having to get out of bed before 5 p.m., and all that sort of stuff.... more ›

Decent Days and Nights

Decent Days and Nights

At this year’s Pitchfork Music Fest, Band of Horses confessed to feeling mighty jet-lagged, and it showed. Hopefully, they’ll be more energized at Metro tonight, and you won’t have to worry about getting elbowed by a hippie-with-no-rhythm like at their previous sold-out Schuba’s shows. Tuesday, Metro, 9 p.m., $16, 18+. This week’s award for Best Band Name goes to local band Let’s Get Out of This Terrible Sandwich Shop. That wouldn’t be enough to recommend... more ›

Sometimes We Just Report the Facts, Touch & Go Unveils Final Mystery

Touch & Go finally released the set-times for this year's big ol' anniversary show/Hideout Block Party. Saturday is THE day to go, but all three days have got stellar acts. Come to think of it, while Saturday hosts the heavy-hitting legendary bands, Friday night is the one to don the ol' dancing shoes and get your groove on. We are so psyched for this. Friday, September 8 9:00pm !!! 8:00pm Ted Leo + Pharmacists 7:00pm... more ›

More Acts, Ticket Info Announced For Touch and Go Shindig

Touch and Go’s 25th Anniversary Celebration has been operating under the radar over the past couple months while the Clusterfest shows hogged the spotlight. T&G announced today that they've added 14 bands to the lineup for their anniversary show at the Hideout’s 10th Anniversary Block Party. In addition to the previously announced acts, the show will reunite Girls Against Boys, Killdozer... more ›
