Mariotti's Photo Scuffle?

Sports blog extraordinaire Deadspin reported earlier today that Jay Mariotti apparently got himself booted from Underground last night for a bit of a scuffle over a cell phone pic. The alleged incident was spread on Twitter last night and Deadspin got the story from a reader this morning. Mariotti (not surprisingly) hasn't responded to Deadspin and the photo hasn't surfaced yet, so we'll just have to make do with this one of Mariotti pulling a Tankboy on someone's couch after a big party. We wonder if Jay's gonna make a hungover appearance on Around The Horn. more ›

Judge Finds Jefferson Tap Cops Not Guilty

Circuit Judge Thomas V. Gainer Jr. has found three police officers accused of beating a group of men outside Jefferson Tap Bar and Grille not guilty. The policeman - Sgt. Jeffery Planey and Officers Gregory Barnes and Paul Powers - stood accused of beating several men outside the bar in December 2006. Part of the scuffle was caught on a surveillance camera, but only one of the officers is visible on the tape. more ›

Politics Gets Rough in Dolton. Literally.

Things are getting heated in Dolton, where the inspector general was attacked by a corrections officer on the street. Inspector general Robert Shaw, twin brother of Dolton's recently deceased mayor Bill Shaw, was allegedly attacked by Elliott R. Kozel, 48, of Chicago who was circulating a petition in support of mayoral candidate Riley Rogers (Riley's nephew Larry knocked Shaw off the Cook County Board of Review a few years ago). Like all similar situations, each party is blaming the other one for the fracas. Though it's still not clear what the cause of the fight was. We guess it was just simple, good old fashion political loathing?

Kozel claims he was being "chased down" by Shaw and called 911, Kozel's attorney, Michael Joyce, said. more ›
