Search For Stacy Peterson To Resume

Over the weekend, a "jailhouse tip" led authorities to search a farm near Peoria for the remains of Stacy Peterson. So far, the search has resulted in, well, nothing, but it looks like the investigation will resume after taking a break on Sunday. The search could start up again as soon as Tuesday, according to sources. Authorities have already searched a 10-foot-by-10-foot area of land based on the tip. There have also been some disputing of where exactly the tip came from. more ›

Stacy Peterson Search Fruitless

   

Calling it a search based on "a jailhouse tip," authorities conducted a search for the remains of Stacy Peterson near a farm in Peoria yesterday afternoon. But after a full day of searching, the investigation has, so far, come up empty-handed. David Alwan, on who's property the search was conducted, told the Tribune, "They had pretty solid leads with specific coordinates." Authorities do not consider Alwan connected to the case. Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Tom Burek told the press, "I don't want to stand here and tell you this is the magical lead that's going to solve the case. ... Like any lead we hope that it has a positive outcome. ... I don't want to allude to (the idea that) we're looking for a body. We're looking for evidence of a crime based on this lead that we have." more ›

Sister Leads New Search For Stacy Peterson

Stacy Peterson's sister, Cassandra Cales, is calling for volunteers to help in a new search for the missing fourth wife of Drew Peterson. Details as to where the search will take place will be handed out tomorrow morning at 10 am at the Ikea store in Bolingbrook. [WBBM] more ›

Residence Searched In Synagogue Attack Cases

A North Side home has been searched by federal agents in connection with a series of attacks on area synagogues. Agents were seen carrying items such as a computer from the residence, located on the 6000 block of North Artesian Avenue, and a pair of vehicles were also confiscated by agents. No arrest has been made in connection with the attacks. Four synagogues in the area have been vandalized since the beginning of the year. more ›

A team of athletes and expert mountaineers have ended a week-long search for millionaire Steve Fossett, and while they found no sign of the adventurer, miles of rugged terrain can now be eliminated from future searches. Fossett disappeared September 3 after taking off from a remote Nevada ranch on what was supposed to be a short pleasure flight.
