- We reported last week that award-winning pastry chef Patrick Fahy had left Blackbird to find a job that would, according to Paul Kahan, "allow him to start a family." The Stew now tells us that Fahy has found a new home at the Sofitel, the job recently vacated by Nomi Kitchen pastry chef Meg Galus. This astounding deal at one of the city's better restaurants is a great opportunity to taste their food at a fraction of the dinnertime price. The lunch also a nice perk if you're stuck downtown and want to have a little luxury splurge. You'll be glad you did. However, don't expect to get out fast - the only downside is the speed. more ›

The French Pastry School keeps adding world champion chefs to its staff. Two weeks ago it was En-Ming Hsu. Yesterday they announced that Dimitri Fayard of Vanille Patisserie will teach the French cakes and tarts portion of the school's 24-week "L'Art de la Pâtisserie" program beginning in January. more ›
