Above the deli case at Hyde Park Produce, there is a long maroon awning. This awning, visible from the store entrance, is inscribed “Welcome to Our Dream.” The love and hard work of the owners has paid off, and HPP should become a prime destination for all South Siders interested in great food. The store has been beautifully renovated - anyone who remembers the old 53rd Street branch of the Co-Op (the previous tenant of the space) will be amazed at the changes.

Sure, it's still damn cold out. And the snow keeps coming. And coming. But spring is just around the corner. How do we know? Because Spring Training is finally upon us.
Cubs & White Sox Face Off in 2007
We Chicago sports fans sure didn't have very long to mourn the end of the Bulls season. Chicagoist is a little skeptical of the result thus far, however. We make no excuses for our allegiance to the South Siders and the Sox do sport the best record in baseball, but we still think the fan selected All-City...
The Day is Here!
Do Chicago baseball fans put more emphasis on this rivalry than fans in other areas with multiple teams? Is that because neither team has won a World Series for so long? Or is that because the stereotypes about each teams' fans run so deep? Or the geographic divide defining "North Siders" and "South Siders?" There's a lot at stake in terms of bragging rights throughout the city -- at least until next month's rematch at the Cell. But is that all that's at stake this weekend?
Sox Host Orioles in Key Series
Who would have thought when the season started, that this weekend's 4-game set between the White Sox and the Baltimore Orioles would be such a key series? And the early storyline -- Sosa's return to Chicago -- ended up not happening as Sosa landed himself on the DL this week.
At the Break
It's the All Star Break, but our local boys got the shaft. Where are Paul Konerko, Juan Uribe and Aramis Ramirez? Instead, Chicagoist will take a look back at the first half of the baseball season and predict what the second half will bring.
