After yesterday's rain and gloomy weather, we're back to bright, sunny skies to head into the weekend. An abundance of sun will help temps warm into the low 70s throughout the area. But don't get too excited: there are more clouds and rain on tap for the weekend.

Today's Weather: Spectacular
It'll be a seasonable early April Day with clear blue skies and highs reaching into the 50s. But it's also a precursor to what will be a spectacular weekend as well. While there'll be a chance for a passing thundershower sometime tomorrow afternoon, most of the weekend looks amazing with plenty of sun and highs in the 60s. It's good to have our sense of optimism back.

Y'all thought we were kidding but today would be a really, really good day to play hooky or plan hooky for tomorrow. We could see the warmest temps since early November, cracking the 70 degree mark for the first time in 2010. Glorious, spectacular 70 degrees. And and if you can't make it out today, there's always tomorrow. But get outside because in that cruel twist of fate that Chicago weather likes to throw at us, a cold rain/snow mix is forecast for the first official day of Spring this weekend.

August may be coming to a cooler-than-usual finish, but there's no denying the abundant sunshine we've seen over the past two days. It was a welcome change after last week's rain and today will be no different than yesterday. High temps will be in the upper 60s, reaching towards 70, under long stretches of blue sky. It's a good day to eat lunch outside. Or skip work altogether. Lows tonight will be chilly, in the mid-40s.

Today is looking pretty damn spectacular, even more so because the calendar claims it's still August. Partly cloudy skies and temps in the low 70s with little humidity make it feel positively spring-like during The Summer That Wasn't. Fair conditions continue into the evening hours and temps fall into the upper 50s. The week ahead looks like a quick spike in heat early on before falling again by next weekend. We'd be remiss in not wishing former Bears QB Rex Grossman a happy birthday.

Today is going to be another spectacular entry in Chicago's Coolest Summer In 67 Years. Skies will be blue and sunny today as high temperatures top out in the upper 70s. Tonight could even be a bit cooler than usual as lows reach the upper 50s under partly cloudy skies. And because you need some useless trivia, it was 28 years ago today that Prince Charles married Lady Di.

If you're one of the few people in an office today...we feel your pain. And you're missing a gorgeous day outside. So what are you waiting for? Get outside! Sunny skies and highs in the upper 70's? No excuse to be indoors. Besides, you can always read our mobile version from the park.

So much for that autumn weather. It's more like spring this week as sunny skies prevail and shower us with radiant light. Warmth is back as well with a high in the low 70s. The clear skies carry over into our evening hours with lows around 50. Chicago Godfather Tom Skilling says the warmth could last for five days but next week could see the remnants of a pacific hurricane making their way to the Windy City because if there's one thing we haven't had enough of this fall, it's rain.
