Like it Hot? Head to the Botanic Garden

The Chicago Botanic Garden will be hosting All About Peppers weekend, a celebration of all things hot and spicy, this weekend. Sweet peppers will also be showcased, but we’re less excited about those. There will be tours of the garden focusing on pepper varieties, vendors, special decorations and informational signs throughout the garden. The CBG grows more than 40 varieties of peppers, so if you’re looking to experiment with something new, this would be a great time to visit!

There are more places to eat on 18th Street besides carnitas shops and taquerias. Honky Tonk BBQ and Mundial have their fans and there are more than enough pizza joints and hot dog stands for the lunch pail crowd to feel sated during the week.

Metromix describes Jake Melnick's Corner Tap as "a casual neighborhood pub specializing in traditional American bar cuisine; burgers, salads and homestyle specials such as barbecued ribs and chicken." You know, like the typical, run-of-the-mill River North bar. But things are about to heat up (ha!) at 41 E. Superior St.
