Chicagoist is gonna be your best friend. With the holiday lurking around the corner this weekend and the hangovers slowly lifting from last night’s Chicagoist First Birthday Party, it is just the right time for Chicagoist to unleash and share with you the greatest summer drink in the history of the free world: Rosemary Lemonade.
Chicagoist must have passed Stanley’s Fruit and Vegetables hundreds of times on that 2-mile trek between the Best Buy on North and the Target on Elston, but never really thought much about it. Not big and flashy, and requiring a dreaded left-hand turn (much easier now with the green arrow), it just never really was on our radar. Then, within a couple of weeks, Stanley’s was mentioned to us numerous times. “Best produce, fresh and better tasting than other places” and “low prices for produce, especially organic” were common comments. And one time Chicagoist got a little turned around in that area after trying to find a short cut, and our head almost burst into flames seeing a sign “Watermelon $0.49/lb” after we had just paid about twice that at larger grocery store.
The 4th Annual Lunafest will be dropping into Room 120 of the DePaul University Student Center this Friday. Initially, we read this wrong and thought someone was holding Ludafest, which we imagined would be an evening devoted to the music of Dirty South rapper Ludacris. Sadly, we were mistaken. But this evening should be fun just the same. Lunafest (with-an-N) is a touring festival of short films that are for, or about, women and presented by Luna, the nutrition bar that is strong enough for a man but made for a woman.
The man, the voice, the panties: the spectacle that is Tom Jones descends on the House of Blues tomorrow night. Mr. Jones will be swinging the lead for four nights over the holiday weekend but taking a day off for a Thanksgiving feast (so if you want to see those leather pants look a wee bit tighter then Friday's your night, folks).
