It's a day for food truck news on Chicagoist. Starting this Saturday, August 13th, a new weekly gathering of food trucks is starting up. While these are becoming almost commonplace (now we have Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday food truck pow-wows) we still love them, since it lets all of the people who can't get to the trucks during the workday sample their wares. Plus, this one is happening at 694 Wine and Spirits, a great spot to knock back a few. Head to Starfruit (1745 W. Division) this evening from 6-8 p.m. for their "customer appreciation" party. They'll be featuring free fall toppings including pieces of pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, apple cobbler and pumpkin shaped sprinkles. A raffle will also be held featuring a 6-month membership to Wicker Park Fitness and Blackhawks tix. Warm weather and frozen treats go together like rama lama lama ke ding a de dinga a dong, and temps are finally on the rise. We checked out Wicker Park's new upscale froyo place Starfruit at their preview last week, and the joint officially opens today, dispensing free treats to taxpayers and evaders alike.
