Oberwies to Make a Big Announcement Today

The Chicago Tribune is reporting that the Jim Oberweis campaign will be announcing “a major endorsement” today, and that that endorsement will be from Dennis Hastert. Oberweis is running for the 14th Congressional District seat that was vacated when former Speaker of the House resigned earlier this year. Although Hastert endorsed Oberweis for US Senator in the 2002 Republican primary, Jack Ryan won that race, later withdrawing after his (sexy) divorce files were unsealed. An... more ›

We're Just at a Loss

We're Just at a Loss

You might remember that little incident on July 11, 2006, when the Blue Line train derailed, shutting off power and starting a fire? A CBS2 story reveals that 65 survivors (didn't everyone survive?) sued the CTA for negligence and that a judge determined that the CTA was at fault. However, the lawyers are now prevented from further investigating the accident. “I suspect there are some significant, long-term ongoing problems down there,” attorney Dan Kotin said.... more ›

Whenever college application season rolled around, our friends applied to a gamut of public and private universities. But never Chicago State University. more ›

Hyde's Open Seat Brings Open Season

Hyde's Open Seat Brings Open Season

An open seat Congressional race is like catnip for people in politics -- and they don't come often. Only days after Congressman Henry Hyde's announcement that he will not run for reelection in 2006, one Democrat is in the race for sure, and two Republicans have officially announced their intended candidacies for the Sixth Congressional District. Of the two Republicans, State Sen. Peter Roskam of Glen Ellyn seems to be the front runner. A... more ›

Don't Let The Door Hit You On The Way Out

Republican U.S. Senate Candidate Jack Ryan's campaign has officially headed into "Goat Stage" (scroll to bottom) as the GOP Illinois Congressional Caucus gathered in Washington yesterday to determine not only whether or not Ryan should drop out, but who should take his place. Through all this, two brave politicians with nothing to lose, Sen. Peter Fitzgerald and former Senate candidate Blair Hull have stepped up to point out the inconsistancies of the Illinois GOP.... more ›
