High Rise Fire Kills One, Hurts 12
An overnight fire at a Streeterville high-rise (260 E. Chestnut St.) killed one - the woman who called 911 - and injured 12 others (seven residents, five firemen). The fire broke out on the building's 36th floor shortly after midnight and was out by 3:30 a.m. Both the Tribune and Sun-Times have detailed eyewitness reports as well as photos.
