Wicker Park plays host to Chicago's 7th Annual Renegade Craft Fair this weekend. Over 300 artists from Chicago and beyond will set up shop on Division between Damen and Paulina, selling a vast range of handmade goods including artwork, housewares, jewelry and clothing.
Crafts and Camaraderie
The Sound of Green
Some say Chicago has offered much in the way of green initiatives, and others are scathing critics of our city's lack of environmental concern. There's plenty of room for improvement and some has arrived, in the form of Chicago's first green neighborhood festival, Green Music Fest, taking place this Saturday and Sunday at Eckhart Park in West Town.
The Food of Korean Fest
The shaved ice and fruit dessert known as bing soo tastes even better when the temperature is in the low 90s. We saved the bing soo for last yesterday while at the Chicago Korean Festival. Held on Bryn Mawr between Kedzie and Kimball, the festival seems to grow larger every year. We decided to hit it and get out early before the heat really started scorching attendees; the heat also swayed us from eating kim chi. Here are some shots of some of the food dishes available for purchase, ending with a beautiful bing soo.
In Photos: 2009 Fiesta Del Sol
This weekend was the annual Fiesta del Sol celebration in Pilsen and it was a fine weekend to get out and have fun. You can check out even more photos from this weekend's festivities at the festival's website.
Wicker Park Fest 2009: A Little Something For Everyone
Wicker Park Fest makes its 2009 appearance this weekend and is slated to bring out 25,000 over the course of Saturday and Sunday. If three music stages and over 40 acts is enough to make the mob scene of hipsters co-mingling with Bugaboos bearable for you, then we'll see you at the beer tent.
This Weekend's Festival Round-Up
If you're like us, you've been planning for the weekend since, oh, Monday morning. Now we're knocking on the weekend's door and it's time to decide what to do. Of course, festival season is in full swing and we couldn't be happier, especially since it coincides with our summer warm-up (finally!). This weekend's weather looks hit-or-miss with the rain, but at least it'll be warm, so it's as good a time as ever to get outside and hit one or more of the fests.
