For those who want to celebrate the first day of summer with a dip in Lake Michigan, good news: Chicago beaches have been re-opened for swimming. However, Oak Street and Montrose beaches have swim advisories. Low to moderate traces of E. coli bacteria were found in the water near those beaches. Mayor Daley and the Chicago Park District are encouraging kids to learn how to swim. The Park District runs a wide variety of swim classes, including classes for toddlers, parents and kids together, and for people 18 and over who never learned how to swim. Good timing, too: the Olympic trials for swimming are this weekend. [ABC7]
