Crain's is reporting that The Donald may be seeking a buyer for the first four floors of his 92-story Trump International Hotel & Tower. Trump has reportedly hired a broker to market the building's four-level retail space, and the asking price is believed to be somewhere between $115 and $130 million.

Well, another week has descended upon the city by the lake, and the politicians, like the rest of us, are frolicking in this wonderful spring weather like cowboys at the beach. Let's take all the newsy tidbits that came across our desk this week and rustle them up, like the spring cattle they want to be. Who knows? Maybe one of these stories will fatten up into a vitriol-filled post we can use as a...

This has been quite a week on the city council with a dozen aldermen headed to runoffs on April 17 in one of the biggest upsets in recent memory. Today we take a look back at a man that was as much a character of Chicago as any other, soon-to-be-former alderman of the 42nd Ward, Burt Natarus. In many ways he represented a time when being a character, when being eccentric was OK. As Eric...

Happy Holidays! Chances are, you're reading this the day after Christmas, back at your day job after all-too-short a holiday, and the last thing you want from us is stuff about the holidays. But that's just too bad. Because, see, here in the Ist-a-verse, we do things ahead of time. It might be December 26 for you, but that's what you get for not checking your Favorite Local Blog on Christmas Eve. Austinist is...

Ever walk by the slowly-but-surely growing Trump Tower construction site or read about the proposed Fordham Spire and wonder what it's all going to look like when it's finished? We still can't offer any photographic evidence, but a user named STR at the Skyscraper City forums has posted a bunch of Sim City-esque models of what Chicago should look like in 2010 including the new high-profile skyscraper projects. If the models hold true, the...

Wondering what's gotten under Uncle Burt's sickly green skin this week? It's The Donald. More specifically, it's a 10-foot-tall kiosk on Michigan Avenue in front of the Wrigley Building that markets the new Trump tower. It's got photos and prices and sales information. And Natarus doesn't like it, even though in 2003 he backed legislation allowing such ads.

Among the 12 designs are two Chicago landmarks -- the John Hancock Center and Mies van der Rohe's minimalist apartment buildings at 860-880 N. Lake Shore Dr. Trib architecture critic Blair Kamin, however, takes exception to the small number of Chicago landmarks included in the set -- and he's absolutely right. If there's one this this city knows -- other than hot dogs and pizza -- it's revolutionary architecture. Blair mentions Marina City and the Farnsworth House as among those which should have been included, and Chicagoist agrees.

Chicagoist is totally obsessed with the demolition of the Sun-Times building. There's just something about walking past it everyday and gradually seeing an entire huge building start to come down before our very eyes. Which is why our newest non-sexual crushes are on a couple guys (who happen to work in a great big black building designed by Mies van der Rohe) who have been updating us with some really great photos of the demolition progress. We're so envious of the view they have of the destruction. Actually, they'll probably have a really great view of the lake after the destruction and before The Donald's tower gets built.
