Theresa Carter, the force behind local events resource The Local Tourist, and musician Jim Goodrich are about to embark on a two-week round trip along historic Route 66, raising funds for pediatric cancer research along the way, part of a longer range effort by Carter to raise money for the cause that includes a climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro later this year. Carter and Goodrich are planning a kick-off party June 4 at Cactus (404 S. Wells St.) starting at 6 p.m. General Motors has set up the two with a Chevy Camaro for the cause, another Camaro will be parked outside Cactus for attendees to gawk at and you can win a chance for a week-long Chevy loaner.
