Detroit's The Silent Years have released their new album, The Globe, and have decided one way to drum up interest is to give away their first album online so folks have an idea what the band sounds like. The self-titled debut is a raucous affair, filled with fuzzed-out guitar anthems and plaintive vocals, so if that's your thing, by all means download it. We found ourselves doing a bit of head bobbing and foot tapping while listening to it, so we obviously endorse it, especially since it's free. They're also offering a single off their new album for free, and "Black Hole" is a slightly off kilter and rootsier affair ... up until exploding in the coda in the song's final minute.

The Silent Years AMPLIFY
The Silent Years play Schubas tonight as part of UR Chicago's monthly AMPLIFY series. We dig these kids from Detroit, but you don't need to take our word for it since the band is offering it's debut online, totally for free. If you like folksy and rockin' pop, we highly recommend it.
