It's a gloomy, grumpy Humpday. You've got a few more days until the weekend. There's a pile of work on your desk you just don't feel like plowing through. Well, while it may not make that pile of work go away, one thing that might help get rid of those grumpies is the WeinerMobile. Stalwart reader/Flickr pool contributor JoeM500 snapped some shots of the iconic vehicle at a tweet-up yesterday and the shots are bringing a smile to our face this gray morning. The Flaming Lips have changed their mind and decided they will participate with the "Write The Night" fan requested setlist during their appearance at this year's Pitchfork Music Festival. This is exciting news, primarily amongst music critics filled with glee at the idea of Wayne Coyne picking up a guitar and rocking out to the oldies that most new Lips followers would be less familiar with. After denying early reports that their setlist would be chosen by popular vote, Coyne said tday “The Lips are more than glad to be part of ‘Write the Night’. They will do their best to accommodate the wildest and most obscure of requests - covers included.” more ›

Today in Awesome: Univ. of Chicago Gets in on the Pirate Action

Not content to simply protest figs, the University of Chicago is taking the awesome one step further by offering a class in the upcoming quarter on pirates. The class, Anthro 21254. Intensive Study of a Culture: Pirates is taught by assistant anthropology professor Shannon Lee Dawdy and is - obviously - the most popular class in terms of enrollment. In order to accommodate the number of requests, Dawdy increased the class's size from 90 to 150 students. more ›
