Pippen: No Noah for Melo

Pippen: No Noah for Melo

More and more, it appears that the Denver Nuggets are ready to trade Carmelo Anthony rather than lose him to free agency next summer. Among Anthony's top choices are the Bulls, who are interested in adding a top five superstar after striking out on LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh this past off-season. more ›

D-Lee Nixes Trade To Anaheim

D-Lee Nixes Trade To Anaheim

The major league baseball trade deadline looms this weekend and there's sure to be some wheeling and dealing here in Chicago. The White Sox, having leaped to the top of the AL Central, are suddenly buyers while the Cubs are looking like big sellers as they head into 2011 in which they'll hope to start with a new, younger roster and a new manager. Rumors are swirling that Ted Lilly might have pitched his last game as a Cub last night. But one Cub who doesn't appear to be going anywhere is Derrek Lee. The 34-year-old first baseman invoked his rights as a 10-and-5 player (10 years in the league, five with the same team) to nix the trade; Lee also has a no-trade clause in his contract. more ›

Bulls Trade Salmons for Expiring Contracts

Bulls Trade Salmons for Expiring Contracts

With the greatest free agent class of all time available this summer, the Bulls are actively trying to amass as much room under the salary cap with which to lure the likes of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade or Chris Bosh to Chicago. As today's 2 p.m. trading deadline looms, rumors have linked just about every player on the roster not named Derrick Rose to potential deals. But it's John Salmons who is the first to be sent packing in return for the coveted expiring contracts. Salmons goes to the Milwaukee Bucks in return for Kurt Thomas and Francisco Elson Hakkim Warrick and Joe Alexander. more ›

Bulls Trade Rumors

Bulls Trade Rumors

With the NBA trade deadline looming in a couple weeks, the rumors are starting to build as teams look to bolster their roster for the playoffs or adjust their future salary cap commitments ahead of the best free agency class in a very long time (some would say ever). With the Bulls mired in a disappointing season -- although now back to .500 after winning four straight -- and expected to be strong suitors of the likes of LeBron James, Dawyne Wade and Chris Bosh this summer, they are likely to shop some of their higher priced talent to clear cap space. more ›

Cubs Close to Dumping Milton Bradley

Cubs Close to Dumping Milton Bradley

Major League Baseball's Winter Meetings are underway at a hotel in Indianapolis, and of course it's a veritable hotbed of rumors about trades and free agent signings. But the most persistent rumors flowing throughout the gathering involve the Cubs' Milton Bradley -- so much so that it's become the running joke around the hotel. His inability to fit in with the Cubs was well documented, and moving the disgruntled outfielder has topped GM Jim Hendry's off-season to-do list. more ›

NBA Rumors: Boozer to Bulls?

NBA Rumors: Boozer to Bulls?

The Bulls front office seems to have an infatuation for Dukies, having drafted the likes of Elton Brand, Jay Williams, Chris Duhon and Luol Deng in the past few years. And they were supposedly trying to move up in this year's draft in order to land the Blue Devils' Gerald Henderson. more ›

Peavy Vetos Trade

Yesterday ended up being a pretty crappy day to be a Sox Fan. The day started off great, with rumors that the White Sox and Padres has consummated a trade that would bring Cy Young-caliber pitcher Jake Peavy to the South Side in return for a few prospects. By lunchtime, however, clubhouse gossip emerged, saying that Peavy hadn't had any change of heart regarding his desire to remain in the National League -- not good news for the South Side. A 20-1 thumping at the hands of the Minnesota Twins clearly wouldn't help the situation -- it just showed how desperate the Pale Hose are for pitching. Word came from San Diego not long after the final pitch that, in fact, Peavy had vetoed the trade and will remain with the Padres. "San Diego is the place for us," Peavy told reporters at Petco Park yesterday. "We've made that decision for the time being." Meanwhile, Sox GM Kenny Williams needs to formulate his next plan to address the Sox's pitching woes. more ›

Jake Peavy About to Land In Chicago?

Jake Peavy About to Land In Chicago?

There is once again a good deal of speculation that San Diego Padres ace Jake Peavy may be on his way to Chicago... only the latest rumors involve his landing on the South Side. The San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting this morning that the White Sox have proposed a four-player trade that would slot the Padres ace into the Sox rotation. Among those expected to be sent to San Diego are pitchers Clayton Richard and Aaron Poreda, but top prospect Gordon Beckham would not be part of the deal. more ›

Bulls Shakeup Coming?

We'll take this rumor with a grain of salt, seeing as it's coming from the NY Post's Peter Vescey, but he's reporting that John Paxson is out as the Bulls' GM soon after next week's trading deadline passes, and that Vinny del Negro will likely be out of a job at the end of the season, too. Vescey expects another round of wooing Doug Collins by Jerry Reinsdorf to fill one or both vacancies. more ›

Dye / Young Rumors Persist

Dye / Young Rumors Persist

Last week, White Sox GM Kenny Williams again found himself denying rumors that he was about to send his right fielder elsewhere in a trade. The latest whispers had Jermaine Dye headed to the Texas Rangers in return for all-star shortstop Michael Young. The Rangers were supposedly asking for Sox prospect Aaron Poreda in addition to Dye, and that might have been the deal breaker. more ›
