When we happened on a few of Flickr user Travis Kniffin's street portraits, we just knew we had to share. Shot on a roll of Tri-X with a Nikon N80 SLR, Kniffin's poignant shots illustrate why, even in the digital age, you still can't beat the look of film.

For Once, Going Over the Handlebars Is a Good Thing
Behold the coolest trick bike...ever? Chicagoist spotted Travis D riding this bike down the street on Saturday, and we couldn't help ourselves: What's up with crazy bike, we asked? He told us it was a custom mod so he could do flips. Curiosity swept over us, and we begged for a demonstration. Like any street performer, Travis requested a modest fee, and we happily complied. He strapped himself into his contraption—which took him 120 hours to build, he says—and told us to walk down the block a little. Then he rode by us and flipped forward in one smooth, graceful motion. Totally wild. Another two pics of the crazybike after the jump.
Weekend Extra: The Best of the Week in the Global "Ist" Village
Londonist are starting to think their city is getting just a little bit too expensive, when even Christian Slater can't afford to go out there. And there's no escaping, as local singer Lily Allen discovered when she was barred entry to the US. The British mapping agency caused further bad karma, by blocking a 3-D representation of London in Google Earth. But the smiles returned to Londonist's faces as they interviewed Baroness von Reichardt,...

We missed the band last time they were in town, but were told by no small number of attendees that these Georgian upstarts nearly stole the show with their energy and antics. Last night confirmed these reports as the five-piece's stoner Southern-boogie metal tunes drenched the...

Sox Send Six, Cubs One
Major League Baseball announced the rosters for next week's All Star Game yesterday, and 6 members of the White Sox were selected, along with one Cub -- Carlos Zambrano.
Blues Brothers Mall Demolished
The building that housed one of the most famous movie chase scenes ever, has been demolished. Again. For the last time.
Interview: Alphabet
In order to get you all pumped up for the upcoming Ctrl-Alt-Rock concert, we've been going around chatting with the stars of the show. Last week, we chatted with Travis Chandler - one of the fellows behind the band Alphabet: Chicagoist: Can you explain the name of your band - Alphabet? Travis Chandler: Our favorite thing to do musically is to express somewhat complicated ideas in simple ways. Chicagoist: What are the things that you...
